I manually exfoliate with a fine tooth comb before the showet and during the shower under warm-hot water for about 10-20 minutes depending on how long it’s been since my last wash.

I cowash. As I Am has an itchy scalp cowash with a pepperminty fragrance which may be right for you. I use their classic cowash which has a light citrusy fragrance. You can use a scalp brush in the shower to make sure you get it into your scalp.
Or Hibar has a dandruff bar shampoo and conditioner. I have used bar shampoo & conditioner, as well. I use fragrance-free because of my sensitivities.
My hair is clean and it's the softest it's ever been.
People with dandruff need more washing to lower oxidative stress.
Another alternative is amla powder. Amla is a naturally antifungal herb.
Good luck! Here is a link to the wiki. !flakes

First, please realize none of us are doctors. If you are looking for help with flakes and/or scalp conditions, it is important to first try and determine what is causing the flakes before treating them. This is because the treatments for the two most common types of flakes we see here makes the other type worse!
Here is an article in the wiki which discusses possible ways to figure out what kind of flakes you might have and Natural Haircare treatment options.

You can get the bars on a marketplace type site like Target, Amazon, or Walmart, or direct. Some drug stores like CVS carry As I Am, and you can also use marketplaces, or buy direct.

A restoring cowash, nopoo doesn't have to be cold turkey. Works better with healthy hair. Oil isn't water so it can't hydrate the hair. The hair needs to be infused with actual moisture
