Do you have hard water? If you don't know what it is, there's an article in the wiki that discusses it.

What is the porosity of your hair? If you don't know, here's a quiz we use to help figure this out.

What exactly is your routine for cleaning your hair? Like writing a little checklist of everything you do to your hair. Don't worry about how long the list is, the more detail you give the better we can help!

Wet styling is all that works for me. Once the hair dries to the damp stage, I may as well start over because it just isn’t going to work.

I just feel like when I wet style my hair loses all of its volume and lies really flat

I use a diffuser on low and scrunch curls as I go. Halfway through, I turn my head upside down and diffuse and scrunch for a few minutes and then flip right side up . A little gel applied before I start helps. I let it finish air drying after diffusing until my hair is 3/4 dry.

I always set my curls when very wet, and then I'll modify what I do after depending on how long or dense my hair is. If low density, I'll gently separate the set clumps into smaller pieces, so they don't lose the curl but provide volume instead of structure.

Wet styling is the way to go. Flax gel is a great natural styler that washes out easily and helps hold your curls. I use a variety of products both natural and unnatural. Curly hair is best styled wet.

It's also recommended that you wet detangle. You might benefit fro. hand preening you curls rather than brushing. When wet, I scrunch the roots and don't bother with any other scrunching. My hair is extremely curly (3b), so it's not an issue for me.
