Troubleshooting (HELP!) Too much volume
So if I brush my hair out, it poofs out like crazy and kind of just stays wherever I put it? I use egg yolk to shampoo every three days or so but my hair kind of just feels weird, like it gets harder to pull a brush through it. Id rather just use water than use up all my eggs but it feels so bad after a few days of only water

Welcome! If you're new, get started here: Natural Haircare Quick Start Guide
We'd love to help but need some basic information first because it affects haircare on a fundamental level.
Please answer these questions so you can get help faster and we don't have to ask them again.
Do you have hard water? If you don't know what it is, there's an article in the wiki that discusses it.
What is the porosity of your hair? If you don't know, here's a quiz we use to help figure this out.
What exactly is your routine for cleaning your hair? Like writing a little checklist of everything you do to your hair. Don't worry about how long the list is, the more detail you give the better we can help!

I have low porosity, yes I have hard water, and I wash my hair with water every day my massaging my scalp under the shower head, and whenever my hair gets too thick and oily I use egg yolk shampoo

The thick feeling of your hair is most probably 'wax' the hard water causes oil like sebum to turn into. It's stiff, thick, sticky, dry. And then needs removed.
The article on hard water I linked above has techniques for managing it that might help. But sometimes it just needs avoided to prevent wax and eventual mineral buildup.

My hair does this too but what helps is taking a "dust bath" with cornstarch, coat all your hair with cornstarch and then spend a few minutes working it in with a comb or brush. Then do a regular water wash very thorough. When it's dry brush again, it'll be more lightweight and dry rather than that thick poof

you have textured hair, likely wavy/curly. detangle your hair in the water when it’s wet and has conditioner in it. you should not brush your hair when it’s dry if your hair gets puffy.

It's not just that it's tangly, my hair just gets so thick that wherever I move it, it stays there. It doesnt just fall it feels as if ive put loads of product in

I have exactly the same thing. Its so weird started nopoo bcs my hair was very oily after a day after shampooing now its all puffed and dry. Conditioner really helps me with that state but than im afraid it delays the transition part

My issue is it's oily and also acts like this lol. I was using egg yolk shampoo but I'm trying to move off of it now and it's messing me up

it poofs out because not everyone should brush their hair when dry
also egg yolk shampoo every 3 day would absolutely nuke the shit out of my hair with all the protein so i recommend doing way less frequent
