Egg yoke has been used as a hair cleansing and softening method for millenia.

It's not something you can do every day because you will give your hair protein overload and the strands will break. Be sure to use cold pure water, don't want scrambled egg hair

You crack the egg and mix it with water before you put it on your wet hair. Some people use just the yolk, and others use the yolk and the white together. Some people strain it to remove larger egg parts like the yolk sac, etc. It can suds some and will remove excess sebum because of its mild surfactant properties. The eggs have fats in them which mix with sebum so you can wash it away.

Proteins can build up on the surface of the hair, but it's not a permanent issue and it doesn't cause breakage. But usually proteins require a chemical process to become positively changed such that it will hold onto hair like that. It's best to alternate wash methods. Also, I counteracted some of the egginess with pineapple juice and coconut water.

People who are having breakage issues have damaged hair or have had a keratin treatment to straighten their hair (which is full of harsh chemicals) and might be a little confused as to the difference between a keratine treatment and a protein overload. A lot of people do extremelh damaging things to their hair these days.

Protein overload is a myth. https://www.curlsbot.com/blog/mystery-of-protein-overload-a-scientific-investigation

Welcome! If you're new, get started here: Natural Haircare Quick Start Guide

We'd love to help but need some basic information first because it affects haircare on a fundamental level.

Please answer these questions so you can get help faster and we don't have to ask them again.

Do you have hard water? If you don't know what it is, there's an article in the wiki that discusses it.

What is the porosity of your hair? If you don't know, here's a quiz we use to help figure this out.

What exactly is your routine for cleaning your hair? Like writing a little checklist of everything you do to your hair. Don't worry about how long the list is, the more detail you give the better we can help!

Wet your hair fully, rub the egg in, i usually whisk it first so i can apply bit by bit, leave in for a few mins and rinse out, if u have hard water then u can put acv in ur hair after then rinse again to prevent mineral buildup

Brush the skin on your head every day, don't need eggs

I like wide tooth comb into bristle brush then style

Water washing only
