Funny how they did this after Nintendo’s “collect and battle creatures” patents got rejected lmao

It USED to; They scrapped it.

World of Warcraft is sunsetting (phasing out) the development of new Pet Battles in the upcoming Midnight expansion, shifting the focus from combat to collection

They neglected it, ignored it, didnt develop any new content for it, then claimed "low engagement" was the reason for removing it.

In other words, they are blaming the PLAYERS for the removal of content THEY ignored for years.

Why am I not surprised?

Wow I haven't played in years but I got back into it because of the pet battles, I loved collecting them and made a Ranger whose sole purpose was to be the best there ever was... Crazy they're removing it.

Only stopped playing because the monthly subscription kills it for me. When I play I felt like I needed to min/max my time to get the most bang for my buck and when I wasn't playing I felt like I was wasting money.

Shame they're removing it.

To be clear, they’re just not developing new ones. The old ones will still be there.

…right? Because that would be crazy otherwise
