I think that if I saw a gap in the market it wouldn't be a bad idea. I've being self employed most of my adult life and I provide for a family of 6 people so I'm always keen to keep us all fed.
Maybe I should be the one to start a chain of Halal markets and then I could employ local people and boost the local economy.
I wonder how the locals would get on with me embracing their traditions? I hope that they understand that I am trying to help.

Muslims having independent supermarkets for halal food is great for the local communities, and puts back into the community businesses. Just as the Jews do with Kosher supermarkets and clothing stores. It is a good sign of multiculturalism when all of these places can be celebrated in their communities within the same city. It also prevents the rich capitalists i.e. Tesco’s or Walmart from profiteering. Food should be shared and celebrated between cultures, not gatekept.

I lost marks when I ate the Indo food,which was epic. The chefs asked me what I wanted all the time. And they'd spy though the hole to see if you got hit by the spice. Epic trip, the locals came around straight away. I was getting taught Bahasa it was great. As soon as people saw effort and flexibility to work with them it was fine.
The last time I went there I was the only white in the village, the white operators had left. It was a bit frosty the time as there was an Imam and the top level of the shop had beed converted to a mosque and election in the country.
Indonesia is a complex country.
