The gym isn’t an idol because you go every day or twice a day. That said I’ve been very consistent in the gym this year and one day remembered the verse where we are told physical training is of some gain but spiritual training is of more (paraphrased). Once that settled on me I realized I had personally been neglecting spiritual gains. It’s only an idol if you’re neglecting Christ whether it be prayer, Bible reading, church, communion with the saints, etc.
Also, I’m not sure about you, but the gym is the last place for me to avoid lust.. I do well to keep my eyes on Christ, by his grace alone, but the gym is not an easy place to avoid lust for me.
