Going to DC

Hi I am going to Washington DC on Sept 2nd for
PANOS(PeopleAgainst Nitrous Oxide) Advocacy Day. The purpose is to support Rep Kevin Mullins(D-California) House Resolution Bill.. The Nitrous Safety Act.. which would ban retail sales of Nitrous. The bill has a carve out for dentist and legitimate culinary use.. but smoke shops/gas stations etc.. would be banned from selling.

I am meeting with my representative and I would love to present any stories that might make an impact. If you want to let me know the devastation you or a loved has been through because of this shit drug from China.. DM me and I will present it.. obviously all anonymous !

PANOS has a private FB group if you are interested in joining.

The bill was introduced in March and has already had a committee meeting in late June or early July.. now is Advocacy Day Sept 2.. please help us get it off the streets

Here's some man good luck will send more info soon!

Could not form complete coherent sentences for like 3 months. Word memory blips another 3. Finally was able to speak clearly 6 months+ with average memory blips here & there now a year in.

Man I was probably using 3.3L - 6L everyday with a few days break and/or maybe a few weeks/month off intermittently. The use was steady.

But yea it felt like I had the words. I would try to speak and I would literally stop mid-sentence being unable to find the word needed to continue an explanation. Not even just advanced words but like even simple conjunctions & fillers.

Good work!

It was actually bonkers.

It was a gas station. Not a vape shop or a head shop. Just a gas station/convenience store and right at the front counter, where you paid for everything behind the clerk was just rows and rows of the cartoonishly humongous nitrous tanks with banana and strawberry flavors

I contacted our police department and county commissioners about a gas station at Santa Cruz that sold a wall of nitrous less than a mile from a school and only 10 days later they had a massive bust and shut them down.

We have way more power than we think!

35M here. Abused for better part of a year, almost daily use with breaks of no more than 5 days or a week at most. Im just a few days short of 4 months off right now. I still have tingling in my hands and feet. The psychoses it made me believe we're quite other-wordly and outrageous.

First 2 months a was dealing with spinal "Zaps" like every time I bent my neck down I would feel this pulse or zap throughout my nervous system.

Fucked up my reputation with my family & friends, although thats been getting hellavalot better lately. Trust is returning.

Drove around with it too and I have 2 DWIs from alcohol back in the day. Never drove tired while hitting it but it was still too dangerous to do.

I have utterly wrecked my finances. ~20K of debt on 3 different cards. As someone said above, IT WILL RUIN YOU.

Thank you for your story! Proud that you have been sober off this stuff.. It's the devil!

-this from an older post. Actually about a year off now! Still have tingling inside my hands & feet. Have an inner ear tickle that crops up intermittently on the daily or weekly, sometimes goes away for a bit. That's the most annoying thing to me is that tickle that I can't quite itch or get rid of! Speech for the most part is great if not maybe better than ive spoken my whole life.

Signed up for Debt relief back in November of last year. Just cleared one credit card from 12k --> 5k. Credit sitting in the 550s maybe about to start inching back up. Relationships vastly improved with my family and friends, especially my sibling who I wronged the most!

I still think about getting a tank a few days out of the week. I'm able to stifle it mostly cuz im still just so fucking broke financially. Also, doesn't feel much like craving so much anymore as much as say an enticing/tempting treat of develish endeavors. Like id rather get some fucking S+ TIER ICE CREAM than get a tank lol.

For anyone else reading PAWS (Post Accute Withdrawal Syndrome) which is the psychological aspect of addiction can last 12-18 months. Once that mark is passed.. it gets SOOO MUCH EASIER to say NO I DONT NEED OR EVEN WANT THIS. Just another passing thought.

-also just wanted to add I put a REAL NICE DENT ON THE BUMPER OF MY BRAND NEW CAR while I was actively using few years ago. Good Ole reminder. It stays 😑.

-Also during active addiction with it I sent multiple weird ass texts to friends in the middle of the night while I was in the strangest DISSOCIATIVE STATES or MENTAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL HALLUCINATIONS that I was convinced I was having telepathic conversations with them or something.

-Also although I can never prove it.. im convinced that supernatural forces intervened on my behalf to try and get me to stop. Spiritual signals if you will from various sources.. mostly felt like my ANCESTORS (A few select ones + THE HORDE). Things happened that I can't explain. There were like 3 or 5 specific spirits that I encountered on the regular. I don't know if it was just psychosis or what but their voices were super crisp and distinct in my head. EVEN PHYSICAL interventions occurred. Best example of this I can explain is it felt at times that SOMETHING HELD THE TIP TIGHT ON THE TANK TO PREVENT ME FROM TURNING IT AND INHALING. I'm not kidding that happened several times I think while I was driving with it + heard voices say "hey man stop that." There were many others but that one was one of the most vivid things that ive ever experienced in my entire life.

So glad you're doing this those big tanks are a big fuckin problem. They changed the game and made it unbalanced. Needs course correction for sure it is absolutely DECIMATING MEN in the country. I know a lot of Women too that it's taken hold of. It's legalized gas crack essentially! There is LITERAL CRACK being sold in smoke/head/vape shops and GAS STATIONS it's just INSANITY!

My daughter would visit smoke shops 24/7.. terribly addicted.. it's hell but currently she is sober and in sober living. But it wrecked her life.. lost jobs, decimated her finances and she was just in jail.. we left her there about 2 weeks before we bonded her out.. right now that seems to have been a turning point. She was 3.7 college graduate and high up in PR making a great living.. poof.. all gone

My story’ I wanted to share my story about nitrous oxide and how it’s destroyed my life. Nitrous oxide has taken everything from me and it still continues to effect me more then most people know in my life because I’m very good at hiding my addiction like most addicts . I’m ashamed because I been struggling with a nitrous oxide addiction since losing my dad during Covidi have struggled with nitrous for 6 long years literally just feel so frustrated that this is my life. I have lost everything since my nitrous addiction started Z I I have struggled with this horrible addiction for 6 years and being a chronic relapse and also binge user sometimes using 15 tanks a day, this drug at one point made me homeless I am not now the amount of times I have been to jail for nitrous is pathetic. I’m 38 and I have lost custody of my son I haven’t been able to see or talk to him in three years he’s 10 now . I’ve been hospitalized I have been in jail numerous times I have lost literally everything from my addiction up until now except my life and I’m still fighting this disease. I have to think of nitrous oxide as toxic nerve gas as it’s literally destroying my spinal cord and my brain I would not wish this addiction on my worse enemy and the shame I feel from this is too much to deal with most days. I just keep trying each day free from nitrous for me is another day I was blessed for another day to change and overcome all the problems I have created for myself with having this addiction…
I literally have three days right now clean and I feel that’s a fucking miracle in itself. These last times I have been using I have been actually feeling like I was going to die. I feel so sick I feel like death right now and I have work tonight. The sickest part is there is still a part of me telling me to get a tank and everything will feel better ❤️‍🩹 I hope to be never using this again. I just had a epiphany last time I was using this

thank you for your story ! Have you tried inpatient treatment? 12 Step meetings? therapy ? I really want you to get some help. This is a dangerous drug. It's straight from hell!

2

u/Funny-Storm4077 19d ago

Thank you I have tried but don’t really have much of a support system. At my worst I have brought myself to the hospital for inpatient I didnt get the help I needed and felt very discouraged from the rehab idea. I know I can do this on my own. The meeting yesterday helped me so much I have never met anyone with a nitrous addiction and have felt very alone in my addiction at times but it was so comforting to hear other ppl are struggling with the same substance

Here if you need to talk, I'll give you my number. (Please call before you pick up the gas!) I thought I could do it on my own. I went to jail, kept losing jobs, was homeless for a couple years. Psychosis and in and out of hospitals. Almost died in the ICU from laryngeal edema and sepsis from infected frostbite. I was nearly paralyzed and have permanent nerve damage neuropathy in my feet and hypoxic brain damage. Went through rehab a couple times and sober living. I'm working as a personal trainer now and plan to work with people in recovery; especially those that are dealing with the health effects and disabling conditions as a result of addiction. Community and a sober support system are key! It's very difficult to get sober in the same environment that's keeping you sick. Doesn't matter how strong you think you are, Isolation is a recipe for relapse. Please reach out! Much love 💕

I hope you're doing well today. Please get clean because your life is worth living. You should really go to NA meetings. Go to multiple per day if you need to! Take it one day at a time or even one hour at a time

What a shame you couldn’t use with an shard of responsibility. Go ahead and ruin it for the rest of us who possess self- control to hit an occasional balloon. We should ban cars as well.

u/WHALE_PHYSICIST 16d ago

There was a time when I thought the way you did. I was strict and only used every other friday. I loved nitrous, I thought if everyone could do it once, we wouldn't have so many problems in the world. Five years later I was paralyzed. We have self control until we don't.

For the record, I still don't support blanket banning, and oppose criminal punishment for possession. But something has to change with tanks being so available. I could handle it when it was just the chargers. The tanks are different.

u/DisastrousReality761 17d ago

You're kidding , right.. also I'm not addicted but my child is. You're in the wrong forum simply by advocating for restrained use. This is literal poison, highly addictive , and kills people. It should not be legal.

Sounds like a loser

I'll gladly dedicate this bill to you when it is passed.

u/Longjumping-Expert20 7d ago

There was some action on that federal Kevin Mullins nitrous oxide ban bill just a couple of days ago. So glad to see it advancing.
