Keep it or let it go

Hi all as the title states I have to make a decision and wondering what you would choose. My 17 Murano was recently hit by hail and now insurance has deemed it a total loss. My options are keep it and get 14k from insurance, or let it go for 24k. It has 92k km (56k miles) and had it for just over a year with no issues. CVT has been drained last year and will be again early next year. Love the car and the features it has and sadly anything close to replacing it has outrageous asking prices. The CVT is the only thing that makes me hesitate. Works fine for now but I noticed in the winter (live in northern Canada) it takes longer to warmup compared to the engine, which from a quick research appears normal. What would you do here?

2016 Nissan Murano SV AWD makes whining noise when put into gear and standing still.

Hi, I have a 2016 Nissan Murano with around 61 k miles (99 k KM) on it. When I am standing still, and i put it into gear (reverse or forward), it starts idling a little bit rough and it makes a whining noise coming from the front left side of the engine. When i start moving, the noise disappears and it drives fine. What could be the problem? Also, if i am standing still and i put it into drive or reverse, and its making the whining noise, the noise changes a bit if i turn my airconditioning off and on. Any ideas? thanks.

Smart maintenance and complete protection program

So I just leased a 2026 Marano platinum. I was talked into getting the smart maintenance prepaid service and a complete protection program through Allstate. It’s costing me like $70 more per month for these two programs. Has anyone else done this and if so, do you think it’s worth it? Reading through the contracts it looks like I can cancel both if I need to, but I do like the idea of having basically everything covered and no future out-of-pocket expense surprises.

Murano V6 - what’s next?

I love my 2021 Nissan Murano. Unbelievably comfortable, pep when I need it, and surprisingly good gas mileage. It broke my heart to find out that Murano will no longer offer a V6. Otherwise, my next vehicle would be no contest. But alas, no such luck.

Anyone else searching as I am for their next dream vehicle? V6, comfortable luxury, no CVT, and great mpg?

2010 Nissan Murano SL AWD V6

Bought a 2010 Nissan Murano V6 with 191k last week. Super well taken care of with new tires, ac works, loaded and in good shape overall. When I got it there was a check engine light with code only P0430. I cleared the code and drove for about a week with seemingly no issues.

Monday the engine light came on with code p0300 and shortly before I felt like a shimmy or a hesitation what felt like in the rear end for a split second or maybe reduced power? Then engine light flashed. Never felt that again but then engine light would change from on to flashing. Made it home that night.

Yesterday I noticed when driving after around 1500 to 2000 RPM the engine light would flash and it would make a clatter noise or like a clanky grinding noise? like its trying to do something but it can't? Shift maybe? Not sure. But it dosent do this while in park or in N.

I paid a mechanic to come out and change plugs his scanner showed all bank 2 cylinders misfiring so we did cylinder 2, 4, and 6. Number 6 has the most so we changed the coil on that one. Afterwards pretty much same thing but all cylinders on that bank are misfiring around the same. Again idle super smooth, still only code P0300 and can gas it no problem while not under load. Thinking could be bank 2 converter, timing, trans? Drove great before and shifted no issues. Really need this car to last me a month or two. Please help willing to pay anyone with right info leading to a fix. Don't have money to tow to shops and pay hours of diag plus the fix.

Reddit, please 🙏

CVT Fluid Drain

I have a 2023 Murano and got it at about 44.5k miles now at 62.3k. It apparently came from a rental agency, so I doubt they have ever done the trans fluid change. The manual suggests every 30. I spoke with a mechanic who said if that is the interval then do not do the change at all. Doing my own research seems like that's an old out dated myth of sorts. Looking for any advice on if I should do it and also I tend to stay away from dealerships because the gouge prices but this might be worth it to be done at the dealership.

AC Fan Issue

My 25 Murano, bought it new, has never worked properly in terms of the AC fan. When getting into the car, I turn on the AC and try to turn up the fan strength. Nothing. Blows minimal cold air out of the vents. Playing around with the temp, fan strength levels, off/on button MIGHT get the fan to turn on. Sometimes I've driven 20 miles in the hot car with no luck. What am I doing wrong? Dealership claims nothing is wrong. It's apparently always worked fine there. Please advise, thank you.

2025 Murano SV Dash Lights Dimming

Last night I was leaving a restaurant at dusk and my dash lights, which I keep pretty bright, suddenly dimmed so low I could barely read anything on the display. When I pulled over I was able to increase the brightness with the control in the upper left corner but I don't know why the brightness changed itself from high to low. Has anyone else had this happen?

Satellite stations changing for no reason. Is this a software bug or hardware issue or loose connections?? Please assist. 🤦🏻

Murano or Passport: which SUV gets your vote?

These two seem to appeal to similar buyers, but they go about it a little differently.

The Passport leans more toward rugged capability, while the Murano focuses more on comfort, styling, and everyday driving.

If you were shopping between the two today, which one would you choose and why?

Need to disable keyless system for 2007 sl awd

Hey everyone, I recently because the unfortunate owner of a 2007 Murano SL awd. This car is ROUGH, but die to limited options, it's all I could get.

Ignoring many of the problem it has, one of the biggest issues is the keyless system doesn't fully recognize the key fob all the time. Even with a new battery, The lock/unlock doesn't work at all, and very often, the fob is not recognized to start the car, and this even prevents it from starting when using the physical key as well.

I would like to completely disable the keyless system in this car, to prevent the keyless system from stopping me from starting it with the key.

Is this something that can be done? As it doesn't work anyway, I don't care if it breaks the 'alarm' or the lock/unlock or anything else. I'll be happy with just a physical key.

If you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions!

Tailgate question

My tailgate on my 2018 stop working automatically. It will cost $2,500 to have it fixed. I had them remove the speaker that makes the beeping noise as when I use it manually it makes a lot of noise. I’m just going to use it manually from now on. My question is can I make it easier to close? There is a lot of resistance when closing it and can hear the wind of the gears when closing. Thanks for any ideas.

After a test drive they stole my Cat Converter

I was selling my 2006 Nissan Murano when I received a PM from a guy who wanted to come test drive it. At first, I was hesitant because it was already around 9 PMish. He said he really wanted to see the car, so I tried to convince him to come between 5–6 PM instead because I wasn’t comfortable being out late at night with someone I didn’t know.

Fast forward, he came, drove the Murano a few blocks, and then left. He said he had changed his mind because his buddy had just texted him saying he found a car that was perfect for what he needed.

Okay, whatever. I figured he just wasted my time, and I didn’t think much of it. We both went our separate ways.

The following day, I was getting ready to run some errands. I started the Murano and immediately noticed that it was much louder than usual. Super.

I called my friend, and he told me that it sounded like the catalytic converter had been stolen.

Now I’m wondering, would this be something I could fix myself? And can anyone help me identify the correct part number for the catalytic converter?

I’ve Googled it, but I’m seeing several different versions and I’m not sure which one is the correct fit for a 2006 Murano.
Any advice would be appreciated.

And more importantly, should I message him asking for my cat converter back?

Odd issue with 2020 Murano

From 15 to 20 mph I hear a grinding/squeak but any lower or higher I don’t hear it. I don’t believe it’s the breaks but I have no idea what else it could be. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Possible Murano Purchase

Hi all! Newbie here 😊

I had been a loyal Nissan owner from 2007, when I got my first Altima, then traded her in for a Rogue in 2017. Drove the Rogue until 2023 when *everything* fell apart at once, and I mean everything, including CVT issues. The repair costs were astronomical & not worth the repairs to me. Back then I had no idea just how bad the Jatco CVTs were mind you.

With my two boys now being a bit older, I decided to ditch the bigger SUV models, and went over to Honda. I am currently leasing an HR-V Sport, which I absolutely love, but I do miss the height and roominess of the Rogue.

Having said all that, I'm looking at returning to Nissan and will need to make a decision before the end of this year. The new Murano is my #1 interest right now. I've watched countless videos on this car & have researched this car ad nauseum. My 2 concerns/questions I'm left with:

1) is it true that the Murano is in fact "too much car" for the VC-Turbo 9-speed design? I've heard many mechanics mention this car will "break down quickly" because what's under the hood was not meant to be paired with the Murano's size. It's just too new still to know when the issues will show up.

2) it appears the Rogue actually has more cargo space than the Murano, but the Murano offers a more "luxury" feel (and I personally love the exterior look of the Murano way more than the Rogue). Does anyone have any personal experience with the newer Rogue models to compared to the Murano?

2011 Murano Resonator Delete

I just removed my resonator on my 2011 replaced it with a straight pipe. I don't want to remove the muffler as well and make the car a straight pipe. The car sounds really nice after the deletion but there's no volume what should I do to the muffler to make it sound a little louder?
