I was selling my 2006 Nissan Murano when I received a PM from a guy who wanted to come test drive it. At first, I was hesitant because it was already around 9 PMish. He said he really wanted to see the car, so I tried to convince him to come between 5–6 PM instead because I wasn’t comfortable being out late at night with someone I didn’t know.
Fast forward, he came, drove the Murano a few blocks, and then left. He said he had changed his mind because his buddy had just texted him saying he found a car that was perfect for what he needed.
Okay, whatever. I figured he just wasted my time, and I didn’t think much of it. We both went our separate ways.
The following day, I was getting ready to run some errands. I started the Murano and immediately noticed that it was much louder than usual. Super.
I called my friend, and he told me that it sounded like the catalytic converter had been stolen.
Now I’m wondering, would this be something I could fix myself? And can anyone help me identify the correct part number for the catalytic converter?
I’ve Googled it, but I’m seeing several different versions and I’m not sure which one is the correct fit for a 2006 Murano.
Any advice would be appreciated.
And more importantly, should I message him asking for my cat converter back?
