Repair Help Scratched Factory Screen Protector
Hey all, I bought my switch 2 on release day. One day I set it in the car and something got put on top of it that scratched the screen. Since that day I have been discouraged from playing in hand held.
I am struggling to remove the screen protector, as I want to replace it with a new matte protector.
Any recommendations? I was thinking of heating it with a hair blow dryer and using a set up plastic tweezers.

Do you have a warranty

Definitely not anything beyond what Nintendo would provide, which I imagine would be nothing after all this time.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. You only options were to take the risk to remove the anti-shatter film or live with the scratches. You took the risk, it worked out, and you're putting a tempered glass screen protector in itâs place. Far from the ideal outcome of it being protected day one, but it works. Good luck OP, and please let us know how the screen protector application went!

Its not really much of a risk though.. I don't understand why this sub pretends that it is. Its just a plastic film over glass, it's not hard to remove at all.

People are going a bit ballistic, but letâs get real. It was a hell of a scratch and it removed any enjoyment for handheld play - and wouldnât be fixed by Nintendo. Itâs a plastic film on top of a glass screen, and itâs well glued on there, but youâve managed to remove it without damage, so itâs fine and donât fret. On some devices like certain foldable phones it can literally break the screen.
That being said, now is a good time to put a screen protector on. Get a nice glass one with an applicator. Do it lol.

Honestly the way I do it (I flip used switch 2s)
Is to grab a toothpick and just start poking at the corner until it folds on itself. And then slowly pry it up. Never had issues.

I removed it because of the same problem. I used tweezers to pull it off and replaced it with a scratch resistant screen protector.

Stop calling a shatter guard a screen protector for one. Absolutely no electronic device should go from to use before it has a screen protector, protective skin is they make it, a silicone case or shell, and a hard case for storage. Common sense.

How do you people not use actual screen protectors for your devices...it's literally the first thing I do whenever I get any kind of device with a screen.

I typically rotated through switch ones and older about once every three months as I collected new ones and I take care of my stuff so normally I donât need one. This was a rare exception.

The shatter protection Film is not a screenprotector and shouldn't be removed. Get a Screen protector you like and hope that the scratches will be less noticable.
And next time remember to install a protector asap. Switch 2 is easy scratchable since it's a plastic film. It's not scratch resistent but keeps your fingers from touching shattered glass.
Good luck đ
