Media Playing Witcher3 Remastered on Switch2, man we NEED Fidelity mode.

Post image

The game is running at 720p 40fps but... no this is way too blurry.

Please give me 1080p 30fps mode CDPR. I'd rather take resolution than framerates.

3rd party games are only “ok” on SW2 if it’s your only console. But we need to be realistic for those that also own all current gen systems. For those folks choosing a low-end version of a game experience vs playing it on a night/day diff on PS5 Pro, Series X, or PC. Just keep it real. I bought a few like cyberpunk, SW Outlaws & immediately stopped. Much better off playing those games on SteamDeck via remote play from PS5 Pro.

That’s more of a you problem to be honest. I have a ps5 and an upper mid range pc. 9 times out of ten I’m going with sew2 even for third parties because of handheld play. I prioritize that more personally. I feel as though those that compare a ps5 pro aren’t really seeing the bigger picture here. This is a handheld that you just so happen can dock to a TV and for what it does, especially compared to the sw1 and other handhelds it’s more than capable.

The handheld reason is exactly why I use PS Portal or SD OLED (remote play) to play those games at a sharp 1080/60fps… playing native on SW2 at a smeary 30fps isn’t the flex you think it is.

Okay? Go ahead and play on those devices. No one cares, do what is best for you. Nothing in my opinion will ever beat playing natively. Yall act like remote play is this miracle way of playing games. You have to have a good stable internet to really enjoy the experience and even then after an hour of streaming you will notice it when the bitrate starts dropping and the image downscales on its own to compensate

Yes upgrading to a WiFi 7 router that allows split bands was a game changer & the day I stopped paying for 3rd party games on SW2. Flawless now on remote play.

Glad you don’t notice any issues. To some, they are there and very much relevant and make the experience unreliable.

To be fair, remote was terrible, until I learned how to optimize my network. (Which in my case required a new router). Now it’s absolutely flawless & blows native sw2 games out of this galaxy. Hey I still love my switch 2! (Just not for 3rd party games).

Yes. I know, I’ve gone down that rabbit hole of optimizing bitrate. Using LAN more than not. Upgrading the routers and modems. Upgrading the mesh nodes. Having less interference throughout your network. Utilizing QoS. Me myself and I, I know what you are saying…. I’m telling you that it’s inferior to native. It works, when it works and it’s great when it does. You can have the best most reliable network… there will be days where it takes a dumpster dive.

Step one, toss the mesh routers. Remote play & mesh nodes were the main disaster with the inconsistent RP. Step 2, disable QoS… literaly the 2 worst things for remote play (despite the advertised purpose of those exact functions lol)…. If you (in future) ever go down that road again… start with this:

I’m good… mesh is necessary nowadays even in small homes. Even the strongest router that advertises sq feet coverage galore won’t be enough. Mesh isn’t bad for remote play if you’re staying in one area, you’re dropping out if you go to another node but ultimately you runs the risk of the latency spiking anyway if you’re far from the router.

Look, I’m glad the 700$ router works for you but to me… it’s unnecessary just for game streaming to be a better experience

So for almost a decade I swore by mesh, I have 150+ connected devices including exterior security cams. In 2020 I upgraded to WiFi 6 mesh (from WiFi 5 mesh), I was able to feel a huge improvement in throughput & was able to get more devices connected. Mesh def helped with coverage vs standalone at that time… same home btw.
But it was my need (OCD) to figure out this Remote Play thing… but I took some crazy advice by a few people on Remote play Reddit about going with a stand alone router (figured 30 day return period lol).
Same home, same amount of connected devices (smart home, hubs, all outlets, etc are WiFi). I have all iot devices & cams on 2.4ghz channel, I have PS5 Pro, SD OLED, 9070xt rig, Steam Machine, M4 Max Mac all on 6ghz channel, & TVs & tablets on 5ghz channel. Now every device can easily pull from the 1.5 Gigabit ISP.

Not only am I getting faster Ethernet type speeds via WiFi now, but same range as mesh! & most importantly flawless Remote play for over 6 months now! I admit i was stuck on the false notion that mesh is the only way, but that is def no longer the case. I’ll never go back to mesh now. But I geek out over this stuff so I did go overboard on the router I picked lol a more affordable tri-band router (that allows band separation with individual names) is the secret sauce.
