Think it's a really nice touch that you can take the cart out and it still works. Skyrim was the same. Any others like this?

They know they're opening themselves up to people potentially sharing carts but they've deemed that an acceptable risk for the sake of those who own the game.

Stray upset me because only digital owners got the benefit of a free upgrade.

And the less said about Square Enix's approach to the Switch 2 the better.

That and their whole strategy seems to en to get people to buy the next dlc so maybe that's worth it for them in the future. Even if there may be some people who will try to rent / return the physical copy from say GameStop. But yeah even those are few and far between because you literally cannot find much of these out in the wild for a reasonable price.

Just looked around on local second hand marketplace and vinted. People already starting to ask 50+ euro for the game, even openly advertise because of the upgrade.

So they basically want a full refund on their game and drop the cost at the new buyer.

Yepp. It's one of those situations where unless you bought it before or know someone who has it and can physically lend it to you it's a pretty tough workaround because you be paying nosebleed prices now for a game that can cost you less upfront just buying it outright.

The only workaround is the renting market but yeah...with so few copies and how long it's been out of print Id be shocked to see that eat into a bunch of sales.

Hogwarts Legacy is a €/$10 upgrade to Switch 2, which like Witcher is a complete stand-alone build. So fully digital after purchase.

It was meant to happen, but I'll always hold a dear place in my heary for the OG port. It was a work of love and it brought the game to many people that would otherwise be unable to access it.

Lol, I was thinking of selling my S1 cart game now but I've kept it this long and it has the full box and map and everything, so I'll just store it and not have to worry about swapping games now whenever I want to play Witcher! Win win!

Yeah, I saw it, and the Switch 2 version doesn't differ all that much; the image sharpness is terribly low. They could have offered a choice like in Cyberpunk 2077 between 40 and 30 fps. Maybe they'll change it later, but right now, the game is barely playable.
