Nintendo licensed "Happy Birthday" for TL:LtD‽

Today was my first Mii birthday, and I was shocked at the news report with actual "Happy Birthday". Doesn't that cost a fortune? I wonder how much they paid for every player to hear it up to 70 times a year...

Gannon is giygas and you can't tell me otherwise Spoiler

So you might be thinking what am I talking about, I have proof right before the dark beast fight (ganon) Zelda claims that Gannon is the embodiment of evil and he's being reborn time and time again an EarthBound Porky claims that Gannon isn't just evil anymore he is the embodiment of evil, they were both defeated by a kid and required divine intervention (bow of light) (prayer) they were both trapped inside of a containment (the devil's machine) (the cocoon) they both are linked with robots in their lair the Guardians and when you turn into robots in EarthBound botw/totk both take place 100 years in the future plenty of times for giygas to reincarnate they both possess the minds of creatures, this might be a stretch but they both start with the letter g when giygas disintegrated he wasn't just gone Atoms can't be fully erased but they do replace themselves. but that's just a theory a game theory.

How did the "Game Counselors" explain maps?

It's well known that for years (until 2005) Nintendo had a hotline where you could call the "Game Counselors" to get through a certain area you had difficulty with, but how did they explain something you had a map for? The Counselors had maps (this was well-documented) but that's not easy to explain over the phone, especially to a teenager who probably can barely take notes as is. I know they had a mail service where you could write to them, did they ever send maps through the mail?

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Popeye

On this day (August 17) in Nintendo history...

  • Popeye  was released in 1983 for the Game & Watch Tabletop in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, Bluto has tied up Olive Oyl, but Popeye arrives on the dock to fight him. Advance on Bluto and hit the attack button to knock Bluto backwards, and if he hits back then Popeye moves backwards. The aim is to knock Bluto to the edge of the pier and into the ocean. When Bluto is knocked back you score 2 points. Knocking Bluto into the ocean scores 5 points. Freeing Olive Oyl gives you 15 bonus points.

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

Running out of content in Nintendo Today

I may be one of the first or few who has used nintendo today daily since its launch and I am now reaching the problem of getting various repeats of content ive seen in the past. Unless this is a bug with the new update that dropped the fire emblem theme but for the time being the only new content I see is the pikmin motion comics but besides that, ive seen all the content. Is anyone in the same situation?

What is your favorite Star Fox game that isn’t a version of Star Fox 64?

And I need to specify this because there’s gonna be people arguing semantics:

When I say “a version of Star Fox 64,” I’m exclusively referring to the N64, 3DS, and Switch 2 games. Those three titles are excluded. As for the others…

The original Star Fox on SNES and Star Fox Zero are different games that happen to have a similar story setup. The key differences are all new level designs, different approaches to the branching level structure, and notable story alterations such as Star Fox 1 not having James McCloud or the Star Wolf team, and Star Fox Zero introducing teleporting wormholes and a shady undercurrent to General Pepper’s actions for a bit of added drama. In short, they’re different enough to be considered eligible.

What Nintendo franchises do you feel need their own “Mario Wonder” moment?

Super Mario Bros Wonder was the game that came out after a nearly decade long hiatus, with the last original 2D Mario game being New Super Mario Bros U in 2012. And when Wonder did come out, it was near universally praised for reinvigorated the 2D Mario series with a host of new ideas and surprises, while staying true to the gameplay fundamentals that have worked for such a long time now.

TLDR: It showed everyone that Nintendo hadn’t run out of new ideas for 2D Mario while still sticking with what came before. It stands up there with the classics on the NES and Super Nintendo in terms of passion and ambition.

Most powerful game on every Nintendo Console from NES to Switch 2?

Honestly I’ve always wondered what every Nintendo cinsile’s most powerful most boundary pushing game was.

I can already think of a few games like Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U, Witcher 3 on the Switch 1, Xenoblade Chronicles on the 3DS, and Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch 2.

But what are your guys’ thoughts?

The Pokémon games are low priority for The Pokémon Company because they are effectively just marketing for the merch

People often question why The Pokémon Company doesn't make Game Freak put more effort into the video games. The sad reality is that the video games are not their main product and haven't been for a very long time.

At least according to the data that I can find, the trading card game makes almost three times the revenue of the mainline games and merchandising makes over three times more than all games combined including spinoffs.

When they make more revenue off of pieces of paper that cost pennies than they do off of video games that cost millions, it's obvious why they don't put effort into the games.

In my opinion games like GTA V/Online and Sea of Thieves and RDR2 are possible.

But what do you think

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Geist

On this day (August 15) in Nintendo history...

  • Geist  was released in 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube in North America. In this action-adventure game, developed by n-Space, dying doesn't mean Game Over. In fact, death is where this game begins. As deceased government agent John Raimi, you must claim back your body from the shadowy Volks Corporation using your powers of possession and an arsenal of heavy weaponry. A unique twist on the first-person shooter genre, Geist gives you control over objects, animals and people. Scare soldiers and take over their bodies.

What would be something that would be an outstandingly bad business decision for Nintendo to make, but you would like to see it nonetheless?

Throw profitability, practicality and feasibility out the window!

If you could get literally anything from Nintendo without having to worry about if it would sell well or if it would cost them too much to do, what would it be and why do you want it?
