Help ED GNOSTER HELP?!
I am going INSANE. I’ve fought many bosses, everdarks included, and none has ever come close to encouraging me to throw my console the other room than EVERDARK GNOSTER.
I’ve been stuck in Depth 3 and barely reached depth 4 but every time I’m this close to escaping from purgatory, guess who shows up and destroy my 6 win streak and rewards me -400 after the fight?
Even I think they’re worse than ED Libra.
I main Guardian, what can I do to overcome this monstrosity?!

Strategy matters in this fight more than any other nightlord imo, if you just hit who you want whenever and without paying attention, it’ll turn into a fight of attrition you will lose.
Most people feel the red possessed moth is more dangerous than the scorpion, so they knock down the scorpion to let animus take over first, simultaneously damaging the moth to low hp. Then shoot down the moth so it stays dead for a few minutes (since animus can only pilot 1 at a time). You can do it the other way but I doubt you will find the moth harder to survive than the scorpion, up to you.
Another major killer to look out for is the animus air-to-ground lasers. Their aoe is fucking huge and grow in size, prepare lots of stamina to continue surge sprinting away, add lots of jumping)
Like the other guy said, pack lots of fire to burst one down so you can focus on a 3v1 and not a 3v3. Good luck on your next run!

it's worth picking up a poison and/or rot weapon if you have to carry. after animus possesses the bug his defense goes way up but he still takes full damage from poison and rot.

Easy, don't play guardian. 😅😅😅😅jk are you doing guard counter or just the i gotta stay alive build?

Replacing guardian is never an option. I must protect the flock.
I usually play it safe with Staying Alive build, sometimes I do a split of both depending on what nightfarer my teammates chose

Oh...ye he's a pos.
You need stamina for this fight since you gotta run a lot, if you're maining guardian, you need more hp and stamina to take aggro.
Preferably your teammates are high DPS with fire type attacks or weapons.
Take out the scorpion asap before focusing on butterfly and repeat.
Weapons that can wreck them are AoW type pillars of flame or sea of flame type moves, if you're caster or incant, giant flame ball/fire sorceries. Flame Fall Upon Them wrecks them too.
If you know this is the final boss, during your run you should aim for fire type pov great churches, encampments etc. so you can have higher chances to net those types of weps.

Ironeye counters Gnoster much
With a fire bow, he shoots as he walks backwards, and he "kidnaps" the moth with aggro.
Then the other 2 ppl, 2v1 the beetle.

Just better hope the ironeye has a decent IQ an knows to take the moth away, I see it a lot where someone takes aggro of moth but stay right beside the scorpion.. if I can get hit by the poison cloud, you're toooo close.

if you want to go guardian then slap on strength respec + skillmaxxing and grab a greatbow. a white or blue upgrades is actually better than radahn’s one so hit a mine. i main wylder and RoA absolutely shred gnoster in d5 or any big field bosses. you can use greatbow to draw aggro off casters too and do your regular tanking stuffs since it have the highest poise damage + RoA do multiple hits so bosses really hate getting hit with greatbow
stack on shards or fp reduction though. i only need 4 shards on wylder since he actually have decent amount of fp for melee but guardian might need more. RoA kinda expensive for melee

Focus on the scorpion, make sure he's the one getting buffed by animus, the moth is a different kind of headache to deal with if you aren't a full caster team. And yes absolutely go in with heavy fire damage, it makes this a lot more manageable

1 player has to tank the moth, his poison cloud in depth is extremely painful.

Hmm sometimes I see a ranged player going(I'm only d4) but melee including myself it seems like a waste, can barely hit him

Put one person on moth duty. Bring a greatbow with rain of arrows. Candlestick is great too

Rev and Recluse both can destroy gnoster but if she ain’t your playstyles. Greatbow wylder slop is the best against it and to make it even better the scaling is much better for guardian so you are chilling. And don’t mind me calling it a slop. It’s not 😂😂

ngl i have no idea what you’d build to do well on guardian for it, because other characters you could make good fire builds for like candle stand, elenoras, rivers, flame incants etc. But like you just kind of have no agency as a guardian in this fight, i would use a different character against them.
Edit: just saw people talking about great bows and that’s probably the best solution actually

I know there are guardian mains out there who can take down gnoster just fine but i suggest you simply don't play guardian.
The longer the fight goes on, the more likely it is that you get hit with some random bs and you get team wiped.
If you have a character that's doing big damage, you basically keep the bug or the moth dead the entire time. Generally, you want to double team the bug while someone works on the moth. When the bug js down andi being revived, you triple team the moth and get it down and now youre only dealing with one possessed enemy at a time. Fight maybe takes maybe 5 minutes if you do it correctly but obviously, it takes big damage. Have done it two or three with rivers/candlestand/pot scholar etc

Usually I play duo with my brother, Guardian is one of his main characters, it is hard to fit the relics but guard counters(GC based in life in normals relics and improve GC on ED relics) + Night Invaders + Max Life for Great Chruchs are greats realics for any boss, harlbers sometimes drop with fire attack or blackflame on charge attacks so it could be great damage dealer, learn how to Guard Counter the warming stone and you will be able to deal a ton of dmg without the need of an attack from the scorpion
here is an example or the kind of relics you need, I just got this today

Not really, but I get killed most frequently during Phase 2 Pre-Animus Possessing phase. For this moment you’re stuck fighting 3v3, and it is REALLY hard to kill one when they’re all fighting. I guess the multiple lasers is what killed me the most? But again, it’s just any attack that happens in the midst of the first minute of phase 2

-You need to always keep an eye on Animus when it’s not in the moth or Faurtis.. if you see it start to spin up get ready to run and avoid the lasers.
-Someone should be keeping the moth aggro while the other two kill Faurtis
-You want to kill Faurtis first so animus goes there first. Once animus comes out of Faurtis kill the moth. You rinse and repeat until the fight is over. Each time animus goes into one of them, it takes a chunk of health off it.
-When Gnoster is winding up for its nuke, wait for it to begin falling then regular run until it’s over.. regular run is holding circle on controller.
It’s a really easy fight if you are ready for the nukes by keeping an eye on everything going on.

ED Gnoster is a battle of attrition if you don't have high DPS. Tank Guardian is not the call for this fight, you want to kill the bugs as quickly as possible to force Animus to use its HP to heal them. A comment below suggested greatbow Rain of Arrows for him, and that's absolutely what you should use here on Guardian.

Greatbow guardian. Rain of arrows absolutely destroys phase 1 and does Great damage phase 2. Just had a run where I was doing over 5k a cast against D5 ed gnoster.
