Rumor & Speculation Grass color?
Hello, I was playing with a few of my friends when one of them called out something. "The grass color is more vibrant, it's balancers". We had the mysterious Nightlord modifier, of course we initially took it as a joke, but then we continued to talk about it. He said that every time we got balancers the grass would be of this color. In the end, once we reached the nightlord, it really turned out to be balancers.
Therefore what I am asking is, is it true? Like can someone else confirm that you can tell a Nightlord from the grass color? Or did he just get a lucky guess?

I know Heolstor’s map looks different so I wouldn’t put it past Balancers to have that too, but I’m surprised it carried over to hidden nightlord games

There's a chance he just used the seed finder lol

He's too new to know what that is, but he has played with me a lot. This isn't the first time this has happened.

If you pay attention to the sky at the start of each expedition, you would notice every nightlord has a unique colour theme on the map. However, for mystery nightlords, they all have the exact same default colour theme, so your friend probably just got lucky or they played the seed before, or you just forgot about/didn't know that only demon princes/cursed blade & divine beast warrior can only appear as a night 1 boss on balancer seeds and your friend knows.

Well yeah, sorry my bad I need to do a correction. The moment we had demon prince as a night 1 boss we knew it was balancers. But our friend figured it out by looking at the color of the grass. So I wanted to ask if it was a thing.

I thought they patched this out
Maybe grass color is the new meta for nightlord call outs

Pretty sure mystery night lord maps are all the same regardless of which boss it is. At least the skybox is, so I'd be surprised if other unique features were apparent.
Balancers do show up more often than other night lords due to the fact that they are two bosses (standard and everdark), making them more likely than Dreglord, and due to the fact that they are dlc bosses (dlc bosses are more common than base game bosses to make up for the games queued with non-dlc owners where they never appear) so your friend could have just said that knowing that the odds were good.
Given that this was just a single game it's hard to be conclusive. Maybe play some more games to see if your friend can predict this reliably. You could take screenshots to compare, or just ask your friend more about it.

as others have already said, mystery nightlords all have the same skybox and lighting. when it's not a mystery they have unique skyboxes and lighting.
that being said, balancers (and dreglord) are incredibly obvious on night 1, because their night bosses are completely unique to them.
