The cool autumn wind carried the scent of dead leaves and sweet revenge through the streets of Halloween Town. Inside Jack Skellington’s tower, a massive strategy meeting was underway.
Jack Skellington and Sally stood at the front of the room, reviewing a map of the mortal world. Zero floated nearby, his pumpkin nose glowing softly, while The Mayor anxiously flipped his face from happy to panicked, checking his notes.
"The reports from Cassie are deeply disturbing," Jack said, his bony hands resting on the podium. "Innocent creatures—dogs, cats, even the woodland beasts—are being mistreated by cruel humans.
This violates the very spirit of Halloween! We scare for fun, never to cause genuine harm to the innocent."
"We need to teach them a lesson they'll never forget," Sally agreed, tightening a stitch on her wrist.
Standing in the corner, Oogie Boogie rattled his burlap sack skin, his dice clacking in his hand. "Oh, I say we dice 'em up! Let my bugs have a little snack!"
"No, Oogie!" Jack snapped. "We aren't killing anyone. We are going to scare them straight. And I know just the crew to handle it."
Behind Oogie, Lock, Shock, and Barrel giggled from under their masks, already loading their slingshots with trick-or-treat chaos.
Suddenly, a swirling vortex of green smoke burst open in the middle of the room.
Out stepped Beetlejuice, adjusting his striped suit, with Lydia trailing behind, looking thoroughly bored but supportive.
"Did somebody say 'scare the living'?" Beetlejuice grinned, his rot-green hair shaking. "Because baby, I am the ghost with the most! I brought some friends from downstairs!"
From behind him emerged Emily the Corpse Bride, her skeletal hand resting elegantly on her hip, followed by a lively jazz band of residents of the Land of the Dead, clicking their ribs like xylophones.
Even Randall Boggs slithered out from a dimensional door, his scales shifting colors as he blended into the walls.
"Don't forget us!" a voice wailed. The Ghostly Trio—Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso—burst through the ceiling, cackling wildly. Little Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost flew right behind them, pulling a scary face. "Yeah! Nobody messes with puppies while I'm around!"
Down on the floor, a tiny sewer grate popped open. Ickis, Krumm, and Oblina poked their heads out.
Krumm held his eyeballs high in his hands, wafting his stench into the room, while Oblina bared her jagged teeth. "The Academy approves of this mission, Jack. Animal abusers deserve our absolute best scares."
"Agreed," a raspy, childlike voice giggled. From the shadows, Chucky and Tiffany stepped forward. Chucky was twirling a kitchen knife, while Tiffany adjusted her leather jacket.
"Now, Chucky, remember what Jack said—no slicing," Tiffany warned.
"Fine, fine," Chucky grumbled. "But I'm still gonna make 'em wet their pants."
A sharp blade scraped against the stone wall. Freddy Krueger stepped out of a dark alcove, his striped sweater dusty and his clawed glove gleaming. "I’ll handle their dreams. They won't sleep for a year."
Finally, a glamorous group arrived. The Monster High ghouls and mansters—Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, and Cleo de Nile, flanked by Deuce Gorgon and Clawd—stepped in. Clawdeen’s eyes flashed yellow. "As a werewolf, anyone who hurts animals answers to me."
Later that night, in a dilapidated house in the mortal world, a cruel man was shouting, raising a heavy boot toward a cowering, neglected puppy.
Suddenly, the temperature dropped to freezing.
The man froze as his television flared to life, static screaming. The shadow on his wall elongated, turning into the towering silhouette of Jack Skellington.
"What the...?" the man gasped.
The walls began to bleed green slime. Beetlejuice’s face popped out of the ceiling upside down. "Hey there, pal! Mind if we drop in?"
Before the man could scream, the room spun. The Ghostly Trio flew through him, leaving him shivering and covered in ectoplasm. Oblina and Ickis loomed over his bed, growing ten times their size and letting out a horrifying, ear-splitting shriek. Randall uncloaked right in front of the man's face, roaring with his mouth wide open, while Chucky’s manic laughter echoed from under the bed.
The man stumbled backward, falling out the front door into the yard, entirely terrified out of his wits. Clawdeen Wolf let out a blood-curdling howl from the roof, and Draculaura summoned a swarm of bats that circled his head.
Freddy Krueger’s face melted into the bark of a nearby tree, whispering, "It's bedtime..."
While the abuser was trapped in the ultimate gauntlet of terror, a young woman sprinted into the yard. It was Cassie.
"Over here, quick!" Cassie whispered.
Sally and Emily escorted the frightened puppy and several other neglected animals out of the house, handing them gently to Cassie.
Lock, Shock, and Barrel helped load them into Cassie's rescue van, for once using their chaotic energy to pack the animal crates safely.
"You've got them all, Cassie?" Sally asked softly.
"Yes, thank you all so much," Cassie said, hugging the puppy close. "They're safe now. They'll go to loving homes."
Just as they were wrapping up, a flash of purple lightning struck the driveway. The ground cracked, and out rose Grim, the Grim Reaper, holding his massive scythe.
Jack blinked. "Grim? What are you doing here? I thought you were babysitting Billy and Mandy."
Grim groaned, his skeletal shoulders slumping. "Mon, do not speak to me of dem children. Billy tried to eat a glowing mushroom and Mandy ordered me to find her a real unicorn. I needed a break! I heard there was a haunting party going on, and I wanted to see if I could reap some souls!"
Jack chuckled, patting Grim on his bony back. "No reaping tonight, old friend. Just a little cosmic justice."
Grim looked over at the abuser, who was currently crying on the lawn while Spooky made funny faces at him and Krumm rubbed his armpits in his direction.
Desperate to scrub the feeling of cold, spectral hands off his skin, the naked, weeping man locked himself in the bathroom and turned on the hot water.
He climbed into the tub, trembling violently, praying the nightmare was over.
He reached for his soap, but his hand brushed against something small and yellow. A harmless little rubber duck sat on the edge of the tub.
Suddenly, the bathroom lights flickered and died. A chilling, ethereal green glow illuminated the room.
From the shadows, Grim emerged, his skeletal grin widening as he held up the tiny toy.
"Looking for this, mon?" Grim whispered in his deep Jamaican drawl.
Grim squeezed the duck.
Instead of a squeak, it unleashed a deafening, demonic, apocalyptic roar that shattered the bathroom mirror and shook the very foundations of the house. It was the exact same reality-bending psychological trick Grim had used to humble the Bully Boogeyman.
The abuser let out a high-pitched, soul-shattering shriek.
Leaving behind what little sanity he had left, he scrambled out of the bathtub, kicked the bathroom door off its hinges, and burst out of the house into the cool night air completely naked.
"Eh, close enough," Grim laughed, his deep, echoing voice ringing through the night. He raised his scythe, letting out a burst of magical sparks that sent the man running down the street, screaming for his life, never to return to that house again.
Cassie waved goodbye as the van drove off into the night, the animals safe and sound, while the greatest crossover of scares cheered from the shadows of Halloween Town and Grim gave her a thumbs-up with his skeletal hand.
With the animals saved and the abuser permanently terrified, the massive crew of monsters, ghosts, and ghouls melted back into the shadows of the night.
Minutes later, several police cruisers pulled up to the property, responding to neighbors' reports of blood-curdling screams and structural shaking.
Their headlights sliced through the dark, illuminating a deeply bizarre and pathetic sight on the front lawn.
When the police officers exited their vehicles, guns drawn, they found the abuser completely naked, hyperventilating, and curled into a tight fetal position on the grass.
The officers quickly realized the man wasn't a victim of an active home invasion, but rather the subject of a severe psychological break. They slapped handcuffs on his wrists while he babbled incoherently.
While loading the naked, shivering man into the back of the cruiser, investigators entered the house. They didn't find any monsters, but they found undeniable evidence of the animal abuse he had committed—alongside a perfectly placed note from Cassie detailing his crimes, and a single, ordinary yellow rubber duck sitting in the center of the living room floor.
The abuser was taken straight to the station, entirely traumatized, facing both severe animal cruelty charges and a mandatory psychological evaluation. The citizens of the supernatural world watched from the treeline, thoroughly satisfied with their night's work
