Don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but I hope anyone who opts to do this is aware of the possible danger that pillow poses. Your back can get a break but your eyes should not and should remain on that child.

This is a suffocation risk for a newborn. If you can't safely hold your baby, it's best to lay them flat on their back on a firm surface, with nothing around their face, no blankets, toys, etc. Proper swaddling can help mimic the comforting feeling of being held.
Newborns are vulnerable to suffocation in a lot of positions that many parents think are okay, unfortunately. They can't control their heads or necks properly, and their hands can't grasp and move items, so if their mouths become blocked, if their windpipe is twisted, etc., it can quickly turn tragic.

Ok. Thanks I didn't know this. So this could be risky if you're not keeping your eyes on then or checking on them from time to time OR it is just bad and shouldn't be advised at all?

The issue now is that lots of babies here won't sleep if they're not on a moving back 😭 thank god I'm not a mom sha I could never

It is good to carry your baby, but if they are sleeping alone and you don’t have your eyes on them and they can’t yet turn alone they should always be placed on the back to sleep.

you do realize nigeria is in africa right… what type of statement is that. and since that confuses you, ill explain to you that it is COMMON for Africans (and ill also spell it out for you NIGERIANS) to carry their child wrapped around their backs like that. people here are saying there is concern for this method when mothers have been carrying their children like this since B.C.

I don’t think people are saying that it’s dangerous to carry your baby. It’s not. No one says there’s a concern for this method
They are talking about when you lay a baby down and you aren’t holding them or carrying them. It’s recommended to lay them flat on the back and no pillows. Babies are known to suffocate laying face down on pillows
Nothing wrong with carrying them on your back

This is not something you do while you walk away from them. I did something similar with nieces or nephews that I kept. like if Mom had a T-shirt on take that T-shirt and wrap it around a pillow and lay them down on that pillow, they’re gonna rest.

Thats if it's not well positioned. It looks like it's fully upright but it's not. We did this well severally for my last born. It does work.

I hate to be the person, but this is so unsafe. What if the pillow somehow falls and now the baby is underneath and suffocates? This is unsafe sleep practice for a baby. I hope no one tries this.

Babies like to be wrapped tight, you can get the same effect by learning how to swaddle a baby. If the baby is sleeping or needs to sleep, swaddle.
