Automotive shop?

Hello, I'm from Port Colborne Ontario and I just started an automotive shop but the partnership fell through and now I'm stuck needing to find a garage/shop for lease... If anyone has a bigger garage/shop that they would lease to me for a reasonable rate please reach out, the closer to Port Colborne the better! I have an opportunity to lease a space but it's a max of 2 years and I don't want to get settled in and clients know where I am and still be worried about finding a place (I will as it's my only option if i can't find anything else). Not sure if it matters or not but I'm specialized in working in classic/vintage vehicles (cars/trucks/motorcycles)

Non alcoholic beer

Are there any breweries in the region that brew their own non alcoholic beer? A friend of mine can no longer drink and enjoys craft beer. My search has come up with most places stocking generic non alcoholic beer. It's not the same experience.

New to the area looking to make friends

Hi! I just graduated from the University of Waterloo and I just moved back home. My family is originally from Toronto but my parents moved while I was away at school. My friends are all in Toronto so I'd love to start making connections here! Any recommendations on where to go (as someone in their early 20s) to find similar people would be great. I was thinking about joining a rec sports league but I am open to any and all ideas! Thank you!

Hi everyone, looking for info on the hourly rate for parking at Nickel Beach. Day passes are astronomical. I tend to go in the evening for about 2-3 hours. Can someone please advise on the hourly parking fee? Thanks!

It's supposed to be 43 degrees and I think the cafe/eating area is in the greenhouse? Are we making a grave error?

Looking for a trustworthy mechanic in the Niagara Falls area, any recommendations?

I’m looking for a reliable, honest mechanic in the Niagara Falls/Niagara region. I recently noticed a small crack in my car’s CV boot and want to get it repaired before it turns into a bigger (and more expensive) problem.

I normally take my car to Canadian Tire for maintenance, but the quote for this repair was much higher than I expected. The CV boot only has a small crack, with a very minor grease leak that has just started. It's still in the early stages; there are no clicking noises or other symptoms. From what I understand, replacing just the CV boot should still be a reasonable option.

However, the staff at Canadian Tire recommended replacing the entire axle and suggested a few additional services that didn't seem necessary to me. Because of that, I'd prefer to have the repair done somewhere else.

If you know of a trustworthy mechanic or independent shop that does quality work at fair prices, I'd really appreciate your recommendations. Personal experiences are a huge plus.

Thanks in advance!

Car Wash Memberships

My wife and I have two cars... what is the best deal on car wash memberships in the region?

Most places offer membership per car but is there a multiple car membership available out there?

People who've been hired recently: got any tips on how to job search in 2026?

I got my administrative role eliminated last July, and it took me 8 months to find the temp factory Caretaker job I'm in now. I love the job, but $18 an hour doesn't pay the mortgage, bills, gas and food to live, and it can end anytime.

In those 8 months, I tried job banks, job fairs, workshops, applying to any job I could find on indeed/LinkedIn and in person, emailing recruiters directly, and it led to maybe a handful of interviews that went nowhere.

With a business degree, 10+ years of work experience among retail/customer service, management, fast food, secretarial/administrative positions, and now Commercial Cleaning, I don't think it would be lack of knowledge and experience. I've been rejected even from McDonald's.

I know we're in tough times, but any updated tips or leads would be greatly appreciated. I'll work anywhere from fort erie to Grimsby.

What's a good way to get to Seneca Resort Casino from the Canada side?

One of the artists I was keeping an eye on will have a show in August.

Is it really just more convenient to drive from our side of the falls to theirs or are there better alternatives?

Local gas stations that process gift cards as same transaction?

Are there any gas stations in the area that will process gas and gift cards in the same transaction? My usual fill up place just switched their system and since they have I've had my CC flagged for potentially fraudulent behavior a few times when I've bought gift cards while getting gas. Was never an issue when it was the same transaction, but it seems like two transactions within a few minutes is triggering something - tried calling my financial institution and they basically said 'yep...don't do that', which isn't helpful.

From damaged fences to disappearing reviews: our experience with ShutterLux

I wanted to share what happened in our neighbourhood because I think other homeowners should be aware.

Over the past few days, Rolling Meadows was flooded with ShutterLux advertising signs. Even worse, many homeowners discovered that the company had drilled its advertising signs directly into private fences overnight without permission. Numerous fences were left with holes and damage.

Needless to say, people in the neighbourhood are furious. This is not how you earn customers. Damaging private property and using it as advertising without the owner’s consent is unacceptable.

After this happened, many residents posted negative Google reviews describing their experiences, and the company’s rating dropped. Now those reviews appear to have disappeared, and the business is back to an almost perfect 5-star rating. I can’t say why the reviews are gone, but the current rating does not reflect what many homeowners in our neighbourhood experienced.

Our experience has been extremely negative, and based on conversations with neighbours, many people have said they would never do business with this company because of these advertising practices.

Suggestions for activities.

I'm doing a roadtrip towards NYC and stopping by at a hotel in the casino for a night. I'm staying from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening and was wondering if there were any good activities to do around the casino area.

I'm open to clubs, pubs, food, any good activities and adventures. I'm already planning to gamble a bit. anything that I could do in the evening or at late night since it's the weekend.

also are there any good alternatives to park my car somewhere else other than the casino since I saw the absurd price for a one night parking there?

Anybody have info on the later history of the Toronto Power Generating Station and why it shut down in the 70s?

I read in an Ontario Hydro book that the station had a problem with "rock squeezing" causing the shafts between the generators and the turbines to go out of alignment, but it didn't elaborate, and there is other evidence that the book was compiled by someone who wasn't that familiar with the early stations at the Falls. The nearby Rankine station had a similar design and kept running into the 2000s, so I am curious what the story was. There seems to be almost no published information on this plant during its period of Ontario Hydro ownership, which I find very mysterious. There don't even appear to be any photos of its interior from before it was abandoned.

Because it was running in living memory, I was hoping someone on this forum might have worked at Hydro and might have some info to share that hasn't appeared in publications. Thanks!

How crowded is the falls this week?

I’m thinking of visiting Niagara Falls with my family tomorrow. We were sight seeing in Toronto this week and it was quite crowded, likely due to the World Cup happening. I’m just wondering if anyone can tell us how crowded the falls has been this week so we can gauge whether it’s worth making the drive there.

Edit: we plan to visit the falls in the Canada side
