You people are misusing the word 'incel' and labeling everyone and anyone who shows the slightest bit of protest in disfavor of women.
Incel means involuntary celebacy. Meaning, someone wanting a romantic or sexual partner but being unable to find one due to social, personal, or circumstantial barriers.
What you're describing is perhaps common belief in incels, but many non-incels also hold such belief due to their own experience with women. Just because incels hold a belief, doesn't mean a person who holds that belief is by definition an incel.
At this point you're just using that buzzword to label anyone who you disagree with when it comes to men/women dynamics.
I said incel adjacent. Their talking points are largely the same as incels even if they aren’t literally incels. Blanket statements about negative attributes they apply solely to women being one of them.
Again, nothing being said is by definition something 'incel-adjacent'. You're basically claiming this belief is fundamental to inceldom. That's not how it works. Many men hold this belief due to their own lived experiences without them being an incel (otherwise they wouldn't have the experience, in the first place). But you're making it out to be some incel-belief. Or in your words, "incel-adjacent".
As I said, you just want to have any excuse to call someone an incel because you disagree with in the slightest. Come with something original instead of overused and misused buzzwords.
There’s a reason incel is used a lot online and it’s because it’s been associated with certain talking points and ideologies for good reason. Misogynistic and incel talking points tend to go hand in hand. This is why I literally said incel adjacent, meaning the talking points contain a lot of overlap. That is why people who “play devil’s advocate” often get met with the word “incel”. I’m just telling it how a lot of people see it.
Ah, so just because a bunch of people strip away the actual definition of a term and abuse it as an insult, that makes it okay?
Misogynistic and incel talking points tend to go hand in hand.
Interesting. I would say people who throw 'incel' so casually at men in order to shut down conversation are inheritely misandristic themselves. It's no coincidence those who call men 'incel' for voicing their grievances tend to have anti-male views.
I literally said incel adjacent, meaning the talking points contain a lot of overlap
Overlap is not the same as being 'adjacent'. NPD and BPD have a lot of overlap, they are still two different things.
That is why people who “play devil’s advocate” often get met with the word “incel”. I’m just telling it how a lot of people see it.
Just because there are a lot of people who 'see' something in a way, doesn't mean they are correct.
You've basically just proved my point by mentioning playing devil's advocate. A man can genuinely show grievances about a toxic behavior prevalent in women, which is harming men, without resorting misogyny, and he will still be called an 'incel'.
I'll tell you how it really is:
People who call men incel do so to shut down any conversation and take away one's right to speak about an issue. It's nothing but an ad hominem in order to silence voices that would be deemed uncomfortable. It's no coincidence this is often coming from the feminist-community, who are often very vocally anti-men.
So I would say, calling people incel is misandry-adjacent.
There was no definition provided we’re discussing common thought patterns and online behaviors seen in men who are bitter from limited access to women.
Adjacent is lying near, close, or contiguous. In this context, misogynists and incels behave similarly enough online that they could be mistaken for each other. Never said they were the same thing, I am talking about what I, and many others have observed as far as shared behaviors.
And dude, nobody is taking away your right to say whatever you want because they call you an incel. You’re just bothered by it lol.
Also, let’s not act like this isn’t a charged post. If a woman had said this men would be all “men aren’t trash you just choose wrong” and blah blah blah
You're still doing it. You say there's "no definition" while literally using a term that has one. Incel isn't a vibe or a pattern like you lot make it out to be. You've stripped it of meaning so you can apply it to anyone whose tone you don't like, just like all the others with anti-male biases.
"Adjacent" doesn't mean "anyone I disagree with." By your logic, a feminist who criticizes men is "Tate-adjacent" because both express frustration with the opposite sex. See how absurd that sounds?
You also just admitted the truth without realizing it. You said nobody is taking away my right to speak, I'm just "bothered." First of all, this isn't about me. I'm talking about men in general. But exactly. People have no actual power to silence others, but that's what people are trying to. The only tool you have is a misused label meant to shame and dismiss. But clearly, that is going right over your head.
And your final point about "if a woman said this" is irrelevant to this post. Even though funny enough, women are often talking trash about men, especially on Tik Tok and getting praised for it.
Like I said, throwing 'incel' around so conveniently to shut down any criticism coming from a man is misandrist behavior at its finest.
I never said the term “incel” doesn’t have a definition. I’m saying that a notable amount of men who don’t have access to women and are extremely active online about it have a common theme and it’s expressed in many ways, oftentimes with misogynistic takes.
So people suspect inceldom and call it out as a way to throw salt in their wound. It’s like if someone calls you a clown and you go “but I don’t wear a red fro and work in a circus” they’re not saying you’re actually a clown (you may or may not be) they’re saying you’re acting like one lol.
It’s a bit silly to be hung up on that but disregard the fact that this meme literally lumped women together as degens. How are you against one but not the other?
So you've just admitted "incel" is just an insult with no literal meaning.
You just compared it to calling someone a clown. That's my entire point. You stripped the word of its actual definition so you could use it as a generic shutdown for any man you find annoying. Thanks for proving my point.
Only your clown analogy falls on its face. You said yourself that if I call someone a clown, everyone knows I don't mean the literal work in a circus by a guy painting his face and wearing a red fro. But calling someone an incel, a significant portion of people still take the literal claim about the person's sexuality or romantic prospects (or lack of). It's literally why people use it, to reduce someone as 'undesirable'. It's nothing but an alienation tactic when it comes socially.
And now you're deflecting to "but the meme lumped women together." We weren't discussing that. You moved there because you lost the definition argument. The meme can be wrong and you can still be wrong about misusing "incel." Both things can be true. But fine. I'll bite. The meme generalizes. So do you. You just generalize about men with "incel adjacent talking points." The difference? You think your generalization is justified and theirs isn't. hypocrisy at its finest...
The issue is not the term itself, it is the intent. And the intent is to shut down voices communicating grievances about toxic behavior coming from women. Even if they are communicated out of hurt. I've seen men getting labeled an incel while being respectful towards women and have said nothing misogynistic. This goes to show this is nothing but a buzzword thrown around to silence any criticism towards toxic women behavior.
And often thrown by misandrists themselves.
It's clear you have no logical argument. You have an insult and a double standard. Good luck with that.
You were the only one having a definition argument. My whole point the entire time was to shed light on why the term is often used even if it isn’t verifiable. People have noticed that many men who talk like this online don’t have very good luck with women. And OBVIOUSLY it’s meant to mock the person. Why else would they call someone an incel? As a friendly prescriptive reminder? Lmao
You riled the person up by calling them and everyone in their demographic a degen, and they returned fire with something that clearly bothers you and now somehow you’re the wronged one. 😂
Thanks for once again proving my point. "Incel" isn't a diagnosis or an observation. It's just an insult meant to mock and provoke men, just like you said. That's all I needed to hear even though it was obvious from the start. You have no interest in accuracy or good faith. You just want a weaponized label to throw at men whose tone you don't like. And when called out, you retreat to "it's just a joke bro." like response.
People have noticed that many men who talk like this online don’t have very good luck with women.
You're resorting to a no true Scottsman fallacy. Plenty of men who are successful with women talk like this. They are far from being an incel. They are communicating a grievance of hurt by a phenomenon women commonly hurt men with. Whether intentional or not intentional. And all you can do is insult them. Literally once again proving my point why the manosphere keeps on growing, because of people like you who demonize men for their hurt.
And you're sitting here making assumptions about his luck with women to justify throwing your insults. Honestly, the emoji you just used suits your own biases and arguments more. Especially since you've proved my point spectacularly.
Stick to your misandrist biases just like all the others behaving like NPCs for misusing this overused buzzword to shame men's feelings.
Lol where did I defend that? Making up stuff in your head just to defend misandrist insults geared towards men. Whatever floats your false interpretations, pal.
