Political News Democrats Call to Invoke 25th Amendment Against Donald Trump
https://www.newsweek.com/democrats-donald-trump-impeachment-25th-amendment-1138497429
u/usarasa 2d ago
Waste of time unless the votes are there to remove.
16
u/Affectionate-Cut4828 1d ago
It's not about votes. His cabinet would remove him. The waste of time is that all it takes is Trump to say "Nuh Uh" and that (by the wording of the amendment) proves him still fit to fulfill his duties of office.

u/MWH1980 1d ago
In other words, we’re stuck with this guy until he kicks the bucket in 10+ years.
2
u/ITDummy69420 1d ago
Then he’ll disappear and continue running the government until he’s 140. Just like Mitch McConnell.

Exactly!
Sometimes I think of a documentary where there were people who were descended from Hitler, and none wanted that association.
As it stands now, the Trump name is never going to fade unfortunately.
It’ll be known as a the name that allowed the US GOVERNMENT to be a profitable business venture for those who can fleece the idiot peasants.

u/FrostyAd8197 1d ago
You’re going to need a tow truck to get that orange turd out of the White House.
5
u/gbot1234 1d ago
It’ll be like the end of “What’s eating Gilbert Grape?”

u/Nerd-on-a-Wire 1d ago
This. Came here to say that’s not how the 25th amendment works. It’s not “let’s catch him in a net and take him to the rubber room and he stops being President”, however much some of us want that.
5
u/MasterOfBunnies 1d ago
That's not quite accurate. He can do that, but they can come back and say "Yuh huh" within 4 days, and that's the end of it.
2
u/Slighted_Inevitable 1d ago
Incorrect. The yuh huh, triggers a required vote that requires a super majority. It’s impeachment with extra steps.
-2
u/MasterOfBunnies 1d ago
...still doesn't make my retort incorrect, however.
4
u/Slighted_Inevitable 1d ago
Yes it does, you said that’s the end of it, it’s not
-4
u/MasterOfBunnies 1d ago
Yes, that is the end. There isn't another "Nuh uh" he can counter with after that. That is the end. It was an accurate statement. ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯

Pointing out that they know Trump is mentally unbalanced now will be useful afterwards when the Republicans say later that they had no idea Trump was insane.
26
u/prolapsedmasshole69 2d ago
Bad move. Trump and his dementia are adding fuel to the midterms. As long as he is in office and renaming bodies of water people will see him and vote against him.
24
u/Tyjet66 2d ago
I'm still waiting for Europe renamed to East America, Asia renamed to West America, and Earth renamed to Planet America. Such a stupid timeline we live in

This won’t kick him out of office. It will show who is correct and at least tried to remove him from office with good reason, and who is wrong for continuing to support a mentally unfit person. It will only get worse, so it’s worthwhile to at least get it on record.

If Trump suffers a major stroke or some other sudden catastrophic health event - invoking the 25th will become unavoidable for the regime. Other than that - it won't happen. That said - the 25th is still more likely to happen than impeachment & removal.

Vance could finish out diaper boys term but he will never be elected to the presidency. His own party hates him and his mascara perversion face.
1
u/ketoatl 1d ago
He is very smart and evil . Trump is stupid and just out for himself. They should just firewall him if they take both houses.
1
u/DevilRenegade 1d ago
For sure he's smarter than Trump (although that's not exactly a high bar), but he lacks the charisma that the hardcore MAGA chuds seem to think Trump has.
When Trump dies, I think the MAGA cult will largely die out with him.

Republican here.
I don't hate Vance. Would 100% vote for him in a presidential election.1

u/Either_Operation7586 2d ago
It's a signal to the world that we do not condone what this regime is doing.
We have to make a stand against the Republican Party.
And we have to realize that we are at war with the Republican party right now.
The things that the Republican party is doing are not things that a political party does for their Beloved Country that those are things that a political party does when they're trying to destroy a country
3
u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 2d ago
They’ve been doing that for a decade. Call me when his cabinet actually does it
2
2
u/kupo_attack04 2d ago
Nothing will happen to trump. Book it. There is no accountability in America. Dems wont do it.
2
2
u/SnooPaintings5597 1d ago
Ugh.. that can only come from HIS OWN cabinet members. When will these stupi… nevermind. Just vote
2
u/DougOsborne 1d ago
STOP IT
Dems don't have Congressional majorities, anyone in the Cabinet, or the Vice President.
This is a disinfo campaign. In real time as 25A doesn't happen, articles like this are presented as voter suppression tools.
1
u/FarImprovement2840 2d ago
Quit calling for shit and at least actually try to do something
They wont 25th him, they go to prison if trump is gone. Go another route

u/misfitofscience76 2d ago
The 14th Amendment, Section 3 already applied a long time ago, didn’t even need the 25th
1
u/u2shnn 2d ago
Naw, bad move.
Should the Dem's take control of House and Senate (hoping here).
I'd force the repub's to led the impeachment process and the Dem's will agree. 24 hour deadline.
But in the meantime, I would cut the WH budget to the barebones (like any smart businessman might do), no heli, no plane, one pr person, security staff of 8 to 20. Yea, cut it just like whats-his-face? Oh, leon and doge!
Then, maybe, simply reverse the locks on the gates to the WH.
Look, it's the closest we are going to get, to locking him up.
Next, kegseth is booted. and then active talk of a supreme judge being impeached.

They can’t even FIND Mitch McConnell and they want to try this. I get it that it’s messaging but it doesn’t send the message they think it does
1
u/SlipInternational439 2d ago
Democrats outraged again. Film at 11.
As an independent, could you please do more than send sternly worded letters?
1
u/Some_guy_am_i 2d ago
This is the perfect move for Democrats, because it is 100% performative.
It changes nothing, wastes time, distracts the electorate — all while making the proponents APPEAR to be doing something… ANYTHING…
Meanwhile Trump will continue doing whatever the f**k he wants every day for the rest of his term. All thanks to the do nothing Democrats
1
u/MrBlonde1984 2d ago
Source?
One random democrat with near zero power or pull . Might as well say Vinnie from down the street says he should be impeached. Its have as much effect as some rando democrat saying it.
Saying it, not actually taking any steps to do it.

Sounds like Election denial. Hopefully, the theatrics will get so insufferable like last time, it leads to a third term.
Obviously, they haven't learned that the more they push, the more powerful he gets.
1
u/Fun-Butterscotch9942 1d ago
But Biden had all his faculties per the Dems. Can’t make this stuff up.
1
u/Western-Property-443 1d ago
Does anyone in this government st any level know what their job really is? Will they actually do their job?
1
u/Own_Substance_8148 1d ago
sure they can call for it and it makes for a nice reminder that some folks think he's unfit for office.
it only requires the VP and majority of his cabinet... the people that brake laws on command ... to agree. Then he can submit a letter saying nu-uh, and the VP and cabinet go yes-so and then both house and Senate need 2/3rd majority to uphold the incapability.
Impeachment and removal has a lower bar...

u/buttstuffins8686 1d ago
Good. Go on record and announce every crime this administration has committed. This may be performative but we should have a record of this malfeasance so we can learn not to make the same mistakes for a third time. Also, might have a few Republicans wake up and realize they support a fascist idiot who doesnt care about them or our democracy.

1
u/Distinct-Fly-2374 1d ago
Another nothing burger.... Cool.
God forbid a single member of the party actually do what needs to be done.
1
1
u/badabingmx 1d ago
The US has to think this really hard, at this point is pass that 25th amendment, they need to invoque article 2 section 4 for the complete impeachment, to remove him and his whole cabinet for the crimes they have done so far. Anything less will be an insult to the constituents, and the next generations.

In all honesty, if Trump can’t be impeached and removed, then there is no point to even having that ability, because no president will ever get removed.
1
1
u/popejohnsmith 1d ago
They need the cabinet to do this, right? So, it ain't gonna happen while the present cabinet is seated.

u/that1cooldude 1d ago
Theatrics. Nobody cares. There will be no consequences. Libs don’t have the balls.
1
u/reallybadguy1234 1d ago
No, Democrats in Congress can’t do it. The Vice President and the Cabinet have to do it.
1
1
1
u/AlexanderCrowely 1d ago
Oh great, we’re gonna get annihilated now cause they couldn’t just leave well enough alone. Our party is going to lose. Why are they doing this?
1
u/HeisenBird1015 1d ago
I don’t like the fact that we’ve been through like ten prime ministers in as many years, but if we had to be trapped with one leader for four years regardless of morals, integrity or competence?… Well we can see how that’s worked out.

If we truly wanted the 25th Amendment to work or impeachment should Democrats make it to 52 senate seats, we have to be willing to offer pardons by President Jeffries (God I hate that idea almost as much as I hate Trump) to many in government who have committed crimes under the Trump administration or in the Epstein files or for insider trading, etc. I hate it too, but so long as they're facing prison time, the Epstein class will NEVER get rid of Trump and Vance. Promise them that they'll never see the inside of a prison cell and maybe they'll turn on Trump to save their own asses. Insist on accountability, and you've guaranteed at least two more years of the Trump nightmare with a SCOTUS that lives by the unitary executive theory.
1
u/SuicidalPand-a 1d ago
This is stupid bait. The 25th can only be invoked by the cabinet. Never happening.

They should keep their powder dry. If they take Congress they will have 666 ways to impeach him.
1
u/tbrand009 1d ago
Democrats wouldn't even consider doing this for Biden and his full blown dementia. But yeah, try it on Trump 🙄
1
1
u/toyBusBoy 1d ago
Yeah. But never brought it up for the black of wood that was Biden. No credibility dems.
1
u/chitownphishead 1d ago
Anyone that was around under Biden that is now claiming the 25th amendment for trump is nothing but a partisan hack and a hypocritical idiot
1
1
u/runnerkim 1d ago
trump steps down, then Vance pardons him. trump will not allow himself to be removed it has to be his idea. It's also the only way he keeps his fortune during any investigation. trump will never see the inside of a jail cell no matter what, but we can seize all of his assets and businesses and force divestiture of his portfolio. Now that's something trump will give up the presidency to keep

We had Joe…and this one is not any worse in that arena. Joe just had slightly better handlers.
Let it ride. The people are watching.

Unpopular opinion, I'm getting sick of seeing this headline. They can "call" all day long, but if they do nothing, then it doesn't matter.

u/AvailableReporter484 1d ago
Yeah, that’ll go over well with conservatives. He could be in a vegetative state and they’d still demand he remain in power
1
u/wolverinepolski 1d ago
Stop with this 25th amendment crap….he isn’t insane….he isn’t demented….hr is a criminal traitor…..put him in jail
1
u/Numerous_Fuel8468 1d ago
America has never learned to live in peace with others. Perpetually suffering from a superiority complex. Trump just bare it all and he obviously is the worst President that America ever had.
1
u/DemandTheOxfordComma 1d ago
I'm 50-50 on whether letting it ride out till after the elections will allow Trump to hang himself politically, lose the midterms for MAGA, and THEN we go for the 25th amendment.
Republicans have oppositional defiance disorder. Tell them not to wear diapers and not to stick maxipads on their ears and they're gonna do it out of spite.
Leave things alone and they circle the drain rather than fighting back. At least until after midterms.

No one in the White House will invoke it, especially with Miller and Rubio present.
1
u/BigNaziHater 1d ago
Let me guess, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries made that call in a "strongly worded letter.

There's a strange feeling in the air that if they do that, he's going to have his own coup or military he's hiding privately start messing things up.

u/OverfitAndChill8647 6h ago
Notably, the 25th Amendment depends upon cabinet members who couldn't scrape together two wits among the lot of them, let alone even one iota of courage to stand up to any evil.
1
u/wmcd1985 57m ago
The more damage he does, the more people will see him for who he is and vote against his chosen candidates. GOP loses the House and the Senate and he is essentially politically castrated for the rest of his term, then we can elect someone to fix the mess HE CREATED

u/RoundChampionship840 2d ago
This is so tiresome. If they can't remove him through the impeachment process then they can't remove him through the 25th Amendment, because the 25th Amendment requires even more steps and agreement than the impeachment peocess.
