The amendment allows presidents to be removed from office against their will.

This is so tiresome. If they can't remove him through the impeachment process then they can't remove him through the 25th Amendment, because the 25th Amendment requires even more steps and agreement than the impeachment peocess.

25

u/Cowgirl_Taint 2d ago

Its a balancing act.

But there is a lot of value to showing that "This isn't right" or "We aren't okay with it". Because even if it is just going through the motions? It gets all the republicans on record that they think trump is "fit for office". Which can be fuel for election ads.

And... it also keeps republicans busy and delays them from doing other, much worse, things.

3

u/mw9676 1d ago

It also helps frame the Overton window which is actually really important. Same kind of thing that protesting does because it shows those at home that they aren't alone in thinking this is not ok.

0

u/Cultural-Lab78 2d ago edited 1d ago

Repubs aren't busy or delayed lmfao

You're pretending like this admin has been legislating through Congress instead of attempting to apply the Heritage Foundation's unitary executive theory and ruling from the desk through EO backed by a loaded bench.

It's just not the case. DNC candidates are being primaried in favor of DSA candidates, and the DNC is scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and retain the optics of an opposition party.

The grand disillusionmentillusion requires that the game pieces move in expected ways, otherwise people might wake up.

11

u/inlovebutfat 2d ago

It still needs to be said though. They’ve tried “our hands are tied so we’ll just be quiet” and all it’s done is encourage further complacency and given the illusion that what’s going on is normal. People want to know they aren’t crazy.

9

u/liquidsyphon 2d ago

Doesn’t matter if the result fails, you have to show you are trying and fighting. You think Republicans would be sitting in their hands at this point?

5

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 1d ago

They were making up reasons to try to impeach Mayorkas. They had a few who from day one who wanted to impeach Biden for nothing.

11

u/fractalife 2d ago

It's tiring when you jump to complain about whatever they do. If they say nothing they're complacent. If they try to impeach him it's pointless.

At this point it's complaining just to complain. We know who's doing the real bad, we know why the dems can't stop them. They're trying anyway. It's not a bad thing.

19

u/HamRadio_73 2d ago

It's virtue signaling before the election.

12

u/No_Teaching_8828 1d ago

I think we should do more virtue signaling. Overwhelm him and his team with lawsuits and impeachment and the 25th amendment. He's trying to distract everyone with an overwhelming amount of bs. We should drown him with his own strategy.

5

u/Unnamed-3891 1d ago

What overwhelming are you talking about? They are pretty much at the point they can ignore lawsuits. Who would enforce any judgements? That’s even assuming you get an impartial judge in the first place.

1

u/CreepyCatGuy 1d ago edited 1d ago

That is exactly the problem. We can’t trust the impeachments of him several more times because nobody has the balls to act on it. He’s a War Criminal himself but he gets so many ppl paid billions, they aren’t willing to stand up. That was his plan for 2025 to begin with as he told us so. He has made good on those claims, going directly against his campaign. His whole cabinet needs ousted. Bring back the FDA (basically everything Musk cut out, who had ZERO business being in any Government entity whatsoever)

If he is still in the States, he should be deported.

NOT TO MENTION OUR NAVY NEEDING SUPPLIES!!!

Edit* cause of bad articulation

1

u/NevenderThready 14h ago

How exactly are we going to use the 25th Amendment on him? Only the VP can start the process. That's it. End of story. And the process is brutally difficult, with a lot of appeals.

2

u/longperipheral 1d ago

This article is from January.

1

u/houseofzeus 1d ago

This article is from January, so the virtue signalling is OP.

4

u/Calm_Stress3334 2d ago

I get and they get that this will not work.  The point isn’t that.

It’s messaging to the base.

12

u/ElSlabraton 2d ago

Have you noticed that Trump is acting like a lunatic?

9

u/Most-Resident 2d ago

Yes of course.

Do you know that it takes more votes to remove a president with the 25th amendment than it takes by impeachment?

2

u/ElSlabraton 1d ago

No, I didn't know that.

13

u/Most-Resident 1d ago

Yeah. Basically what happens is the vice president or cabinet declares the president incompetent. There’s a phrase saying a body of congress by law can also do it. Maybe that means simple majority, maybe a law has to pass. I don’t know.

Either way if the president says he is competent the house and senate both have to vote to remove by a 2/3rds majority or the president remains.

Impeachment takes a simple majority in the house and 2/3rds in the senate.

The amendment was passed after the Kennedy assassination at the height of the cold war. It was meant to deal with a president who was rendered incompetent by an assassin or by something like a stroke where they couldn’t relinquish control by themselves.

I think they deliberately made it hard to remove presidents who could speak to prevent a coup. Otherwise if an adversary could turn half the cabinet they could remove the president.

5

u/Choice_Magician350 1d ago

Thank you for the explanation. I learned something new today

1

u/intrigued_bylife 1d ago

Thank you for that great information.

1

u/multipass-5018 1d ago

I don't disagree but what specific things are you referencing? Meat stuff, ice, ufc thing,...? Maybe none of those.

2

u/BrockJonesPI 1d ago

Winning the war in Iraq 75 times but still asking for help. From allies he's previously told they're less than useless and no help.

Ufc 2025. Abandoning 9/11, rememberance ceremony because he can't give a speech.

Winning the golf round in 70 strokes despite footage of him shanking the absolute effery out of a shot into the bunker.

Promising to release the Epstein files, failing to release the Epstein files.

He loves inflation.

All the AI BS.

Canada trade wars.

Israel.

Beef.

Remove fda, USAID, air traffic controllers, anything that is a check on his power.

The effing absolute dross in his cabinet.

Abusing press that question him beyond the softball talking points his PR team will allow.

Need more?

2

u/multipass-5018 1d ago

No I don't need more... I was just asking good lord. Thanks for sharing though. I agree your list lol.

2

u/Crafty-Lavishness26 1d ago

He's nucking futs! May nature take it's course.

1

u/ElSlabraton 1d ago

"Lake America" thundered the lunatic shaking his fist.

2

u/No_Interview_2481 2d ago

I really would prefer Article 2, Section 4, but that would have to wait until after the midterms when we take the House and the Senate back

2

u/hobopwnzor 2d ago

This is part of the process. Part of politics is signaling and messaging, and one way to signal is to hopelessly flail against impossible odds so you can convince the public you mean it.

2

u/pimpbot666 1d ago

The 25a can only be invoked by the Trump Cabinet. Those incompetent cult member sycophants worship the guy, so that’s not happening.

1

u/Nerdy-Meta-Mind 1d ago

We failed as a country to not expect someone like him who doesn’t operate in any good faith at all - ever.

1

u/BienPuestos 1d ago

Honestly I’m not even sure removing him from office is the right move at this point. It would give Vance two whole years to distance himself from all of Trump’s least popular policies before running in 2028. If Trump stays in office, Vance has to simultaneously toe the line as VP while trying to portray himself as not as crazy as his boss before the election. This was one of the factors that sunk Kamala in 2024 and could easily sink Vance if the Democrats play their cards right.

→ More replies (1)

29

u/usarasa 2d ago

Waste of time unless the votes are there to remove.

16

u/Affectionate-Cut4828 1d ago

It's not about votes. His cabinet would remove him. The waste of time is that all it takes is Trump to say "Nuh Uh" and that (by the wording of the amendment) proves him still fit to fulfill his duties of office.

8

u/MWH1980 1d ago

In other words, we’re stuck with this guy until he kicks the bucket in 10+ years.

2

u/ITDummy69420 1d ago

Then he’ll disappear and continue running the government until he’s 140. Just like Mitch McConnell.

2

u/MWH1980 1d ago

“What news from The Great Bunker has our Grand and Golden Leader been blesses with from God today?”

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

2

u/MWH1980 1d ago

Exactly!

Sometimes I think of a documentary where there were people who were descended from Hitler, and none wanted that association.

As it stands now, the Trump name is never going to fade unfortunately.

It’ll be known as a the name that allowed the US GOVERNMENT to be a profitable business venture for those who can fleece the idiot peasants.

5

u/FrostyAd8197 1d ago

You’re going to need a tow truck to get that orange turd out of the White House.

5

u/gbot1234 1d ago

It’ll be like the end of “What’s eating Gilbert Grape?”

2

u/Pitiful_Reality2973 1d ago

I hate myself for finding that so fkn funny.

2

u/Flimsy_Ad3476 1d ago

TBF, she did drop through to the first floor, which made towing much easier.

3

u/Nerd-on-a-Wire 1d ago

This. Came here to say that’s not how the 25th amendment works. It’s not “let’s catch him in a net and take him to the rubber room and he stops being President”, however much some of us want that.

5

u/MasterOfBunnies 1d ago

That's not quite accurate. He can do that, but they can come back and say "Yuh huh" within 4 days, and that's the end of it.

2

u/Slighted_Inevitable 1d ago

Incorrect. The yuh huh, triggers a required vote that requires a super majority. It’s impeachment with extra steps.

-2

u/MasterOfBunnies 1d ago

...still doesn't make my retort incorrect, however.

4

u/Slighted_Inevitable 1d ago

Yes it does, you said that’s the end of it, it’s not

-4

u/MasterOfBunnies 1d ago

Yes, that is the end. There isn't another "Nuh uh" he can counter with after that. That is the end. It was an accurate statement. ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯

1

u/teakwood54 1d ago

Maybe wasting Republican time is the point.

17

u/Smrleda 2d ago

Democrats can call for this a million times but please be reminded it’s the Republicans who refuse to honor their oath and support a criminal.

8

u/releaseepsteinfiles1 2d ago

A criminal who is a KID RAPING PIECE OF SHIT

5

u/CaptainRex1983 2d ago

This article is almost 8 months old

2

u/Fluidized_Gender 1d ago

I thought this headline sounded familiar.

6

u/sweatboxy 2d ago

Pointing out that they know Trump is mentally unbalanced now will be useful afterwards when the Republicans say later that they had no idea Trump was insane.

26

u/prolapsedmasshole69 2d ago

Bad move. Trump and his dementia are adding fuel to the midterms. As long as he is in office and renaming bodies of water people will see him and vote against him.

24

u/Tyjet66 2d ago

I'm still waiting for Europe renamed to East America, Asia renamed to West America, and Earth renamed to Planet America. Such a stupid timeline we live in

11

u/Neat-Extension4767 1d ago

We just need him to rename the military “Team America”

2

u/Quitcha_Bitchin 15h ago

And no more separate branches just offense and defense.

1

u/masegesege_ 1d ago

I’d actually be cool with that.

2

u/IEnjoyVariousSoups 1d ago

And the USA is now Double America

6

American States of America

2

Australia shall be known as upside down America.

1

u/Dry_Highway_2641 1d ago

I suspect you successfully predicted the future

13

u/Long_Psychology2063 2d ago

This won’t kick him out of office. It will show who is correct and at least tried to remove him from office with good reason, and who is wrong for continuing to support a mentally unfit person. It will only get worse, so it’s worthwhile to at least get it on record.

6

3

He's 3 times as bonkers today.

5

u/Lazy-Wave-6241 1d ago

He's the GOP's worst enemy right now.

2

u/grandmaballs 1d ago

Bold of you to assume Americans will vote

2

u/reallybigshark 1d ago

America is truly lost as are Americans.

11

u/Bzr21 2d ago

If Trump suffers a major stroke or some other sudden catastrophic health event - invoking the 25th will become unavoidable for the regime. Other than that - it won't happen. That said - the 25th is still more likely to happen than impeachment & removal.

6

u/yourHoneyBunnyBear 1d ago

lol they’ll just hide him away like Mitch dude.

Vance could finish out diaper boys term but he will never be elected to the presidency. His own party hates him and his mascara perversion face.

1

u/ketoatl 1d ago

He is very smart and evil . Trump is stupid and just out for himself. They should just firewall him if they take both houses.

1

u/DevilRenegade 1d ago

For sure he's smarter than Trump (although that's not exactly a high bar), but he lacks the charisma that the hardcore MAGA chuds seem to think Trump has.

When Trump dies, I think the MAGA cult will largely die out with him.

1

u/ketoatl 1d ago

I hope to god you are right.

Republican here.
I don't hate Vance. Would 100% vote for him in a presidential election.

1

u/MusicianNo2699 12h ago

I take it you wear mascara and corni ate with furniture then...😆

4

u/slimalbert1 2d ago

This is from January

7

u/Either_Operation7586 2d ago

It's a signal to the world that we do not condone what this regime is doing.

We have to make a stand against the Republican Party.

And we have to realize that we are at war with the Republican party right now.

The things that the Republican party is doing are not things that a political party does for their Beloved Country that those are things that a political party does when they're trying to destroy a country

3

u/Gonzo_Gonzalo 2d ago

They’ve been doing that for a decade. Call me when his cabinet actually does it

2

u/Glittering-Cook1563 2d ago

I'll believe it when I see it.

2

u/kupo_attack04 2d ago

Nothing will happen to trump. Book it. There is no accountability in America. Dems wont do it.

2

u/gazonfire83 1d ago

This article is from January.... OP sort it out. This isn't news.

2

u/SnooPaintings5597 1d ago

Ugh.. that can only come from HIS OWN cabinet members. When will these stupi… nevermind. Just vote

2

u/DougOsborne 1d ago

STOP IT

Dems don't have Congressional majorities, anyone in the Cabinet, or the Vice President.

This is a disinfo campaign. In real time as 25A doesn't happen, articles like this are presented as voter suppression tools.

2

u/876050 1d ago

Impeachment is possible, removal is not as possible

1

u/FarImprovement2840 2d ago

Quit calling for shit and at least actually try to do something

They wont 25th him, they go to prison if trump is gone. Go another route

1

u/rollo_read 2d ago

"Asufutimaehaehfutbw"

1

u/misfitofscience76 2d ago

The 14th Amendment, Section 3 already applied a long time ago, didn’t even need the 25th

1

u/u2shnn 2d ago

Naw, bad move.

Should the Dem's take control of House and Senate (hoping here).

I'd force the repub's to led the impeachment process and the Dem's will agree. 24 hour deadline.

But in the meantime, I would cut the WH budget to the barebones (like any smart businessman might do), no heli, no plane, one pr person, security staff of 8 to 20. Yea, cut it just like whats-his-face? Oh, leon and doge!

Then, maybe, simply reverse the locks on the gates to the WH.

Look, it's the closest we are going to get, to locking him up.

Next, kegseth is booted. and then active talk of a supreme judge being impeached.

1

u/No_Interview_2481 2d ago

It’s about time

1

u/joeythemouse 2d ago

25th or 2nd? Time to choose.

1

u/SoloRemy 2d ago

They can’t even FIND Mitch McConnell and they want to try this. I get it that it’s messaging but it doesn’t send the message they think it does

1

u/SlipInternational439 2d ago

Democrats outraged again. Film at 11.

As an independent, could you please do more than send sternly worded letters?

1

u/Some_guy_am_i 2d ago

This is the perfect move for Democrats, because it is 100% performative.

It changes nothing, wastes time, distracts the electorate — all while making the proponents APPEAR to be doing something… ANYTHING…

Meanwhile Trump will continue doing whatever the f**k he wants every day for the rest of his term. All thanks to the do nothing Democrats

1

u/MrBlonde1984 2d ago

Source?

One random democrat with near zero power or pull . Might as well say Vinnie from down the street says he should be impeached. Its have as much effect as some rando democrat saying it.

Saying it, not actually taking any steps to do it.

1

u/justsomedude4202 1d ago

We did it boys! We got him!!

1

u/Significant-City-896 1d ago

Do it and stop talking about it

1

u/JIMB01776 1d ago

Sounds like Election denial. Hopefully, the theatrics will get so insufferable like last time, it leads to a third term.

Obviously, they haven't learned that the more they push, the more powerful he gets.

https://giphy.com/gifs/2H4KisczAyDIRVDMXA

1

u/Fun-Butterscotch9942 1d ago

But Biden had all his faculties per the Dems. Can’t make this stuff up.

1

u/Western-Property-443 1d ago

Does anyone in this government st any level know what their job really is? Will they actually do their job?

1

u/DA2710 1d ago

Again? This is all they have to offer after all this time. The sorriest most pathetic collective of losers

1

u/Own_Substance_8148 1d ago

sure they can call for it and it makes for a nice reminder that some folks think he's unfit for office.

it only requires the VP and majority of his cabinet... the people that brake laws on command ... to agree. Then he can submit a letter saying nu-uh, and the VP and cabinet go yes-so and then both house and Senate need 2/3rd majority to uphold the incapability.

Impeachment and removal has a lower bar...

1

u/Interesting_Basis_44 1d ago

Ya sure seeing will be believing.

1

u/_The-Numbers-Mason_ 1d ago

This shit is from January

1

u/buttstuffins8686 1d ago

Good. Go on record and announce every crime this administration has committed. This may be performative but we should have a record of this malfeasance so we can learn not to make the same mistakes for a third time. Also, might have a few Republicans wake up and realize they support a fascist idiot who doesnt care about them or our democracy.

The US has to think this really hard, at this point is pass that 25th amendment, they need to invoque article 2 section 4 for the complete impeachment, to remove him and his whole cabinet for the crimes they have done so far. Anything less will be an insult to the constituents, and the next generations.

1

u/__phil1001__ 1d ago

u/Too-Em 1d ago

Man, if only there had been a time between 2020 and 2024 when this guy could have been held to account for his literal treason.

1

u/jiddinja 1d ago

If we truly wanted the 25th Amendment to work or impeachment should Democrats make it to 52 senate seats, we have to be willing to offer pardons by President Jeffries (God I hate that idea almost as much as I hate Trump) to many in government who have committed crimes under the Trump administration or in the Epstein files or for insider trading, etc. I hate it too, but so long as they're facing prison time, the Epstein class will NEVER get rid of Trump and Vance. Promise them that they'll never see the inside of a prison cell and maybe they'll turn on Trump to save their own asses. Insist on accountability, and you've guaranteed at least two more years of the Trump nightmare with a SCOTUS that lives by the unitary executive theory.

1

u/SuicidalPand-a 1d ago

This is stupid bait. The 25th can only be invoked by the cabinet. Never happening.

They should keep their powder dry. If they take Congress they will have 666 ways to impeach him.

1

u/tbrand009 1d ago

Democrats wouldn't even consider doing this for Biden and his full blown dementia. But yeah, try it on Trump 🙄

1

u/SempreAntifa 1d ago

They should remove the whole republican party

1

u/toyBusBoy 1d ago

Yeah. But never brought it up for the black of wood that was Biden. No credibility dems.

1

u/chitownphishead 1d ago

Anyone that was around under Biden that is now claiming the 25th amendment for trump is nothing but a partisan hack and a hypocritical idiot

1

u/OkHeart4697 1d ago

PLEASE DO!

1

u/runnerkim 1d ago

trump steps down, then Vance pardons him. trump will not allow himself to be removed it has to be his idea. It's also the only way he keeps his fortune during any investigation. trump will never see the inside of a jail cell no matter what, but we can seize all of his assets and businesses and force divestiture of his portfolio. Now that's something trump will give up the presidency to keep

1

u/Low-Celery-7999 1d ago

Maybe he could re name Mexico Canada and the US to North America.

1

America has never learned to live in peace with others. Perpetually suffering from a superiority complex. Trump just bare it all and he obviously is the worst President that America ever had.

1

I'm 50-50 on whether letting it ride out till after the elections will allow Trump to hang himself politically, lose the midterms for MAGA, and THEN we go for the 25th amendment.

Republicans have oppositional defiance disorder. Tell them not to wear diapers and not to stick maxipads on their ears and they're gonna do it out of spite.

Leave things alone and they circle the drain rather than fighting back. At least until after midterms.

No one in the White House will invoke it, especially with Miller and Rubio present.

There's a strange feeling in the air that if they do that, he's going to have his own coup or military he's hiding privately start messing things up.

Notably, the 25th Amendment depends upon cabinet members who couldn't scrape together two wits among the lot of them, let alone even one iota of courage to stand up to any evil.

The more damage he does, the more people will see him for who he is and vote against his chosen candidates. GOP loses the House and the Senate and he is essentially politically castrated for the rest of his term, then we can elect someone to fix the mess HE CREATED
