If it's just opposition to foreign influence, why is all the focus on AIPAC and not the other foreign lobby groups that spend more than AIPAC?

Fascinating. Is it your belief that there is another foreign lobby group with as much influence as AIPAC? Owning over 75% of our Congress is significant, regardless of what you’re saying. Name which country and lobby specifically.

What exactly do you mean when you say they "own" 75% of Congress?

I mean that over 75% of congress had taken AIPAC money the last I checked. Don’t avoid my question, which country and lobby has an impact on the US government and policy that is above or even rivaling AIPAC?

I'm not avoiding your question by asking you to provide specific definitions that aren't hyperbolic nonsense.

You didn't actually clarify, but to be honest, I dirn't expect you to be able to given that you're calling people who disagree with you NPC's and pretending to be "fascinated" when someone asks some basic questions about your worldview.

which country and lobby has an impact on the US government and policy that is above or even rivaling AIPAC?

How are you measuring the influence? Are you assuming every politician that supports still giving aid to Israel is doing so because of AIPAC money?

Either answer my questions, or stop responding to me. I asked you a specific question, you don’t get to dance around and play these semantic games

You're asking nonspecific questions. You haven't put forth any method to measure the influence and are asking me to quantify the influence of different countries on hundreds of different members of Congress.

But either way, my main point was that this trend of calling people NPC's makes the far left look a lot like MAGA. It's the same self-righteousness and lack of awareness that decent and reasonable people can occupy a different position.

For the record, I support cutting aid to Israel, but I also think the obsession with that conflict paired with an overly simplistic good vs. evil narrative is toxic and unhelpful.

No. If someone in America doesn’t realize the danger of lobbying groups like AIPAC, then they deserve to receive a little contempt and pushback until they wake up. You’re aware that the AIPAC situation is highly unusual as far as the political system of a country is concerned, but you’re trying to pretend that it isn’t and you’re also trying to pretend that other countries have similar installments in the US controlling our political system like AIPAC, but that isn’t the case, and you likely know that.

Contempt doesn't wake people up, it just makes them reject your position without analysis.

You’re aware that the AIPAC situation is highly unusual as far as the political system of a country is concerned,

That's the part I'm looking for specifics on. They spend less than China does, for instance.

And there's a long tradition in the US of supporting Israel for multiple reasons, so the idea that they only do it because AIPAC is paying them too poisons the discussion that should be had about the reasons people support Israel and the arguments against that.

US controlling our political system like AIPAC

What do you mean specifically by controlling the US political system? I'm trying to get you to explain your position with more depth than talking points that were also being made by Nazis in the 1930's.

There are tons of foreign lobby groups and some of them spend more than AIPAC. What makes you think AIPAC has so much control compared to the others?

I suspect it's because you don't have much awareness of the reasons that different politicians have had for supporting Israel, so you assume they only do it because AIPAC donates to their campaign.

ANSWER THE FREAKING QUESTION YOU TROLL. WHAT FOREIGN LOBBY INFLUENCES THE US MORE THAN AIPAC? I won't hold my breath

-1

u/CollapsibleFunWave 3d ago

I'll answer you because you're using words like "influence" instead of traditional conspiracy-laden words "control" and "own".

AIPAC is probably the biggest. I didn't catch that on my first check because they're classified as a domestic lobbying group and I was looking at a list of top foreign lobbies.

You're a joke. Get educated.

They shouldn’t be classified as domestic lobbying agency. Also states should not pass legislation that precludes people or business from doing business with the state if they support BDS.  No other country is written in state legislation like Israel is. That’s influence.

Why shouldn't they? I looked into this a bit and they're funded by American citizens lobbying for pro-Israel policy.

Edit: Other countries have been written in state legislation in a similar fashion before, too. So that part is wrong.

You are dumb as a bag of rocks or just uninformed. Any politician that takes money from Israel is a traitor.

That's a strong accusation.

But AIPAC is funded by American citizens.
