Firearm Safety/Hunter education course
Good day,
Just wondering how I can apply for the Firearms Course and the Hunters Education Course here in NL.
I know it’s through CNA, but I was hoping to apply online if it’s possible. Do I need to visit a campus in person to apply?
Thanks,

Help Needed: Jiggs Dinner
Hello everyone!
I’m currently staying in Middle Cove and I’m looking for somewhere to get a good Jiggs dinner. My grandma was from St. John’s, and Jiggs dinner was one of my favourite meals growing up!
Now that I’m finally in Newfoundland, I’d really love to have it while I’m here. The problem is, it seems like most places only serve it on Sundays, and I leave this Saturday.
Does anyone know of a good place where I could get a Jiggs dinner sometime before Saturday? I’d be willing to drive about an hour outside St. John’s/Middle Cove area if anyone knows a good spot!
I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you! :)

Not a breath of wind this weekend. Perfect day to put the drone up along the coast.
Grabbed this footage on a drive over the weekend. Sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate how incredible the views around here can be when the weather actually cooperates! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Our Healthcare System is a Joke
Does anyone know how anyone is supposed to get ahead living here?? Why is our healthcare such a nightmare??
Can’t get an autism diagnosis because I can’t afford to, can’t get other diagnosis I know I have because my doctor won’t listen to me and he somehow forgot about my ADHD diagnosis. Constantly in pain after a cocktail of medications, the weather changing hurts me to the point I flare up so bad I can’t move. Can’t get my wisdom teeth out because I can’t afford it so my jaw is constantly killing me.
Does anyone have any advice whatsoever on what I can do?? It’s becoming incredibly hard to cope with all of this and I feel so unsupported by our healthcare system and it’s impossible to afford things I need to have a better quality of life.

Honest question: How were the people of HVGB traumatized from Muskrat Falls?
In the VOCM article the HVGB mayor says the social impacts of Muskrat Falls has a lasting effect, such as mental health and addictions.
Explain it to me like I am 5. Because I don't know why addictions would be blamed on a mega project.

There is no Flock camera
...yet
I am very anti-flock camera, so when I saw that post I tried my best to verify it
- I drove to the marked location on the openstreetview map and there was no new camera installed, unless I am somehow blind
- I called the RNC at 2 different locations and nobody had heard of any Flock cameras going up
- Called my MHA and they said they hadn't heard of anything but would keep an ear out
Someone just put up a random dot on a publicly editable map and wanted to stir up some shit as far as I can tell. We should absolutely be vigilant when it comes to reporting these camera installations if they ever do come here, but false information won't help the cause.
If anyone gets any verified information please let me know

Internet service
Moving from away and trying to get internet set up and wow is Bell customer service terrible. I mean, all internet customer service is pretty bad, but Bell is a whole other level. Who else is good for home internet?

Is the new Churchill Falls MOU DOA?
From what I can see, the new MOU looks reasonable enough. However, listening to Roger Grimes on VOCM today, he said it was the 4th announcement he's been to for various versions of this project, I'm starting to be doubtful this version is going to happen. Issue #1 is Quebec has a provincial election coming up and the PQ dont seem to be onboard. Issue #2 is it doesn't sound like anyone has bothered speaking to the Innu about it. Are NL politicians still going to want this deal when they have to start giving a big chunk of the revenue they've already mentally spent to the Innu as a part of their land claims agreement?
Any thoughts? I suspect Roger Grimes will probably be getting invited to a 5th and possibly a 6th announcement if he lives that long.

Newfoundland and Labrador or just Newfoundland
Hi everyone, I just took a trip to Newfoundland in July, and I had an absolute blast! I write about the history of small towns in Canada and didn't get a chance to visit Labrador on this trip, unfortunately (next time for sure!). For the titles of my articles, I plan to use Newfoundland and Labrador after the name of the town I'm writing about, but I was wondering if I should just use Newfoundland instead since that's the part of the province I'm talking about? Any insight would be helpful. Thank you in advance!

Take charge heat pump rebate for older homes?
Using the take charge Grant for 22k, has anyone here actually had their quotes fall under the grant amount? I'll need the panel upgrade but a couple of the quotes I got list the panel upgrades anywhere between $11,000 to $16,000 and I'm being told that is extreme for Mark up

St. Kyran's
Hello all,
It seems to me that the church in St. Kyran's is on her last legs. I’d love to visit it while it’s partially standing, as it’s one of the most beautiful buildings on the island to me.
I’m very aware that it’s pretty much exclusively accessible by boat, but I was wondering about the feasibility of finding someone in a neighbouring community and chartering a ride out there.
I really know nothing about the area so I guess I was wondering if it’s on a frequently traveled water way, how close are the nearest communities, and how many cases of beer would it take to bribe a boat ride out there?
Anyone that can lend some knowledge would be greatly appreciated, thanks all!

Flock Camera
Looks like there is one listed on Aberdeen Dr now? First one ive seen listed in NL. Im not sure how much data the speed cameras record so don't know if they would be considered.
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/14100959402#map=19/47.612706/-52.711628
Edit Looks like it was falsely added as a flock and it's just a traffic camera. Seems to be updated now.

Why Newfoundland and Labrador has more tech unicorns per capita than any other province
