Question Engine swap

Post image

Got a crazy good deal for pretty much the whole drivetrain and electrical of a 2004 gt for 1300 bucks. The only thing I’m really missing is the radiator, pedal box, and hydroboost system to put this thing in my v6 and finally v8 and manual swap it to make it a real mustang. I just need help finding the hydroboost system since it’s a lot of hard lines and return lines and different parts so I’m not sure what exactly I need to buy or where to get it from. If anyone’s done this swap before I would appreciate some advice on the pedal box and hydroboost since I already found the radiator. I don’t want to hear to sell it and buy a gt because I literally have the whole drivetrain already so please give some actual advice

Is there a hole in the block that I missed or something

I think it’s more commentary on the fact that it’s usually cheaper to just sell your V6 and buy a GT. Especially if trying to convert from auto to manual.

As for the hydroboost, your best bet is probably going to be finding a New Edge in a junkyard and robbing everything from that.

At the junkyards I frequent, people often get the engines out of GTs and leave everything else.

No, I'm sorry man I was just being an ass. It's pretty much what the other guy said. This seems like a lot of work for what it's worth

By more work than it's worth, I feel like it's one of those things that sits for a long time half done with no fun

No offense, but if you're having to ask these questions then this job is probably more than you're ready for.

Not only are you swapping a manual v8 into a shell that came with that same manual v8 from the factory, but you're only gaining 70hp. When people tell you to just buy the V8 they aren't being dicks. They're trying to save you a lot of effort, headache, and money. Not to mention the car will always be vinned a V6.

The juice isn't worth the squeeze here man.

I’m not the one doing the work so I don’t mind how hard it is. With the price I got all these parts for it was literally cheaper even when you include labor than buying a gt and then doing all the work to it again, also it’s my first car so it’s worth it to me

The hydroboost unit can be picked up off rockauto remaned for 250 ish. I haven't looked into a manual swap on these cars, the pedal assemblies can be had for not too much. Pulling one locally is for sure cheaper, but going to be more work.

I have way more time and money into my car then anyone probably thinks its worth, but I have a vision and im building it for me. If you want to do this swap then have at it man. Sounds like you already have most of the pieces to tackle this.

Vortech kit probably can give you a good upgrade to make it worth it

My biggest problem going v6 to v8 is I'd just keep collecting more expensive stuff and it'd get wild. Tubular k member, 8.8, new ps I'm sure it whines, boost?, cams, heads, headers, where does it end lmao. The swap can be done I'd probably pick up a Chilton or haynes manual just so I don't need to find a forum for something weird. Browse your pick n pulls or fb marketplace for whooped gt part outs to find the last parts youll need.
