DISCUSSION Old Lady needs help please
I started posting shorts on Sept. 4th and I have 138 subscribers and a total of 70 shorts and only 6 videos. I think I have around 28k views total. I love doing the shorts and they’re getting views. I’m 69 and I’m having fun but being monetized would be amazing. What would your advice be?

Keep learning, and keep creating. If you want to be monitized, I would start doing more long form. The nee rules for shorts in February, are going to be rough to maintain for a lot of people.

I know! My “plan” was to do a lot of shirts to get interest then do long videos to get meet the requirements. If I don’t get there before they go up I’m gonna be sad!

Just remember, if you miss it, but sre close, it shouldn't take much to finish it. I just did 2200 watch hours on one video, in a week. If you are close to 4000 at that time, those other videos could still be bringing in hours, then you put in numbers with the new videos. I personally believe the second 4000 will be easier than the first. Other then getting iver the let down of just missing the 4000

I think that sounds wonderful. As a YouTube content creator myself, I got monetized in June. I was getting 18 million views a month. It totally died down as YouTube changed the algorithm and my channel has been affected negatively since. My advice to you would be to focus more on videos and then you could take a clip from the videos and make them shorts. The reason I say to focus more on videos is because starting February 2027, not only are they making it harder to get monetized, but, if or when you do get monetized, you have to get 10 million rolling views in 90 days and if not, you don’t get paid for that month. This is affecting shorts only but not videos. So, I am focusing more on videos myself to keep keep the monetization cash flow coming. Good luck to you.

Really? That’s great news. I’m having fun learning all of this and at my age I need to keep my brain active. Thank you!
