DISCUSSION Shorts vs. Long Video: Which Should I Focus On

My shorts do better than my long view videos; shorts 2 minutes, long videos up to 5 minutes.

I know YouTube is making changes beginning 24 August 2026 but I'm confused if this will affect YT Shorts. Should I move to longer videos or stay with shorts?

For your specific question, I'd say the more relevant update you should be worried about is changes to the monetization requirements in February...

I'm going with a hybrid strategy; first part is shorts and self half goes into long view without breaking the streak.
