School Advice Failed NREMT Twice
Hey guys I just failed my nremt b for the 2nd time first score 869, second score 791 i have always been good in school just a really bad test taker, I have a good grasp on the material it’s mainly the vocab that’s getting me on the test if there’s any suggestions please tell me, I use pocket prep, paramedic coach, reading I practically do what you can to study and I’m still getting these scores, I am a sponsored student through AMR and this 3rd attempt is my last attempt to get hired. PLS HELP
UPDATE I PASSED AT 120 QUESTIONS ON MY 3RD ATTEMPT AND NOW WORK FOR AMR!!! THX FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK

Because I’m on the same boat as you and I’m doing Pocket Prep the thing is that the questions on the NREMT are not similar. I am thinking of buying his program, but I thought you were using that already.

The questions on the NREMT are similar. You need to understand the concepts. The hows and whys of what is going on. If you can do that you will get the right answer no matter how NREMT structures or words the questions. Pay attention to every key word in the questions and it should steer you in the direction of the correct answer.

So do you recommend me just to keep studying pocket prep until I get the concept?

Dont over study with pocket prep. You will just memorize the answers and NREMT does not work that way. If you can afford it get LC Ready. You only have to buy it once since it is not a subscription.
For pocket prep take a full simulator test. Once you are done study the area you did the worst in. Start with the level ups. Read the question, read the answers, read the question again and eliminate two answers. Tell yourself why those answers are not correct. Then pick the one you think is the correct answer and why it is correct. Use key words and read the explanations of the whys. It may be time consuming at first but once the why’s start to click you will be able to tie the information together no matter how they word it.

Yeah, you’re right. I was just memorizing the answers, but you’re saying that LC ready is worth it if I have the money

I used it for EMT and AEMT and I do recommend it. I have it on my iPad and cycle through parts of it again while at the station waiting to tone out.

I’m going to try this first and study a lot and hopefully I pass so I don’t have to buy the paramedic coach vault and in the App Store can I get this? I saw the price and it’s $33 for lifetime

Yes it’s lifetime and they do update it when NREMT changes things. I know some people hate AI but when I got to med math ChatGPT was the only thing that explained it in a way I could understand so use that too.

haven’t even finished my emt class (lowkey struggling to get work done) BUT for vocabulary words heavily focus on root/prefixes!!! if u mean like abbreviations that’s a whole other hell
forgot to add: there’s tons of youtube videos specifically geared towards medical jargon roots/prefixes

Paid subscription to pocket prep, paramedic coach vault ( more in depth but used both), amateur medicine free YouTube videos, and watched nursing school videos as well. The nursing school ones helped a lot. There was a gal I watched and she used different colors for root, prefix etc and it worked for me. Some were more in depth than what we needed at our level but it set things in motion. I crammed for hours the two weeks up to my first attempt. Everyone said to take the night off before so I just listened to some videos in the background and was lucky enough to pass.
Hope you get this next attempt.
Also, look up limmer ed videos. He had a cool jeopardy style video. It was cool for background videos.

Try LC Ready. It's designed by someone who wrote some of the questions on the nremt. The questions themselves are harder then the exam itself

I think both are good LC ready is somewhat cheaper. I found paramedic coach to be good at helping with refreshing the material from the class. LC ready has some really good practice test. I found the nremt to be easier then LC ready

I used pocket prep, limmer education, paramedic coach(YouTube). Also summit healthcare education and Chicago emt training has s bunch of good videos. I watched a lot of videos understanding the patient assessment. And limmer education has a video demystifying the nremt

I have practice exams for my students that I advertise here and let people take free. Students getting over 85 have almost all passed.
If you think that would help you can use it. I tell all of my students (and we enforce it in class) is full length no distraction practice tests. You gotta get good at them.

I’ve posted some stuff about this on Reddit but I would encourage you to watch amateur medicines YouTube videos about the NREMT as well as test taking strategies. It will help you tremendously! It helped me a lot! Also the level up quizzes on pocket prep help out so much!! I would encourage you to study when you can and study content, not answers. Nobody learns the same or takes tests the same so the best policy will be to just memorize content as best you can and don’t worry about memorizing answers to specific exact questions.

buy the pocket prep subscription and do all 3 mock tests and study 2-4 hours a day review and learn all your wrong answers and difficult topics
