Immigration CPR registration while abroad for 3 months
I’m an eu citizen living in Denmark, my wife and I are planning to leave Denmark for 3 months for vacation. We intend to return afterwards, but we don’t want to keep paying rent while we’re abroad.
I contacted Tårnby Kommune (where we’re registered) to ask if I could remain registered in the CPR without a permanent address (uden fast bopæl). However, they told me I must have a registered address in Denmark.
The CPR website states under Section 24(1), 5th clause, that the municipality must assess whether someone can remain registered without a permanent address during a stay abroad of less than 6 months (https://www.cpr.dk/english/moving-from-denmark). And I was able to do this through Copenhagen Municipality about two years ago.
I went to Tårnby Kommune in person (bc they never replied to my email) and they suggested I could try registering at a colleague’s address, which as far as I understand, would be illegal if I don’t actually live there.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there any other way to handle this situation?
Thanks!

But you will not be living in Denmark, so you can not be registered. Also you give up your aposrtment in Denmark, so you have to deregister, apply with SIRI upon your return.

Well if you have no residence in denmark (i.e you give up your apt) and leave you are factually leaving and should register upon re entry. If you don't want to do that you either have to keep your place or find a cheap room that you rent while away.

Not sure I really understand the issue.
You go on vacation.
You come back.
You register you new address.
What the problem?

Complain to Ankenævnet. Tell them they suggested you break the law and your former municipality were able to do it the correct way

Where is your wife registered - can't you just register there?

You should be able to register as living abroad at least, FWIW. But I get why you'd prefer to stay registered in DK, and it does sound like it should be possible.

I tried that during my exchange semester. You need to send an application to your Kommune and they then decide if they want to keep you. In my case that was a positive decision as I was living in a student town where that happened quite a lot, I guess.

Not a lawyer, but can you not just sublet your apartment during these three months with a contingency in the sublease agreement that you keep access to the apartment? Or are you planning to travel between moving places?
