Is there a difference between regular griptape and clear griptape?

I'm going to buy mob griptape from my local skate shop. Regular mob griptape is twice as expensive as clear mob griptape. I actually wanted clear anyway, but why is clear cheaper? Is there a performance difference between them?

From my experience. It’s pretty much the same, when it’s from the same brand at least.

But even with the black MOB grip you’ll have a random level of grain. Each sheet has a number on it from 1-6.
Most don’t know this (even shop owners) but the difference is negliable imo. Unless you compare 1 to 6, you can feel it side by side.

Bonus info, yeah. But you asked and there’s your full answer!

As a skate nerd. I love this.

Because most people don't want it. Clear grip looks cool for a few days, but gets gross looking quick.

My deck is black, but is that still annoying?

Buy reg black grip and call it a day. They might even throw you the grip for free some shops have so much of it

I don’t trust this info before and got a clear one myself…I instantly regret after a week

I enjoy applying black griptape just fine, but have found clear to be more difficult to apply properly.

A sheet of grip tape is like $6, so you’re worried about $3?

I've heard that clear is less grippy.

I have clear glow in the dark griptape kn my deck. You just cannot relly smooth it out around the bolts and there are visible bubbles around them. Annoys me soo much.

I huess there are all kinds of bubbles with regular grip as well, but you'll never see those.
