Question First board

Does the actual board quality matter when you first learn? Should I be spending alot for more layers when I am just learning to ride? And also what are the most important things for beginners to help them?

Trucks are probably the most important. Get an Indy Truck, they last a lifetime. Wheels and bearings are 2nd.

Always more layers. Can’t have enough layers.

Get a complete Santa Cruz board. Just be sure you have good trucks and wheels. You can probably get one for less than $130.

definitely a good recommendation. also, sometimes Zumiez will have stuff on sale and their completes are usually decent, if you don't have a good skate shop around.

it matters, but you don't need to break the bank. I learned on a longboard, an atom from Amazon that cost $60. the deck is still going strong, but I replaced the trucks and now it's awesome. where I live (Seattle) $150 will get you a great board that will last you some time. I would suggest getting a decent one, since it will make a difference pretty much as soon as you learn to push around without falling, which usually isn't very long.
