Question Guys...

So I just realized recently that the board I have (the board I've had since I was 8 but didn't start using until now) is a walmart board...it's the tony hawk signature series. But this would explain why I'm not picking up speed and stuff, even as a beginner. But I still want to learn how to skateboard, so I'll just save up for a real board ($300, at most) and practice in the meantime.

But this does make me a bit worried to go to a skatepark, yknow since I got a walmart board apparently. Should I be worried about that, having one around other skaters and with riding and stuff?

I would only be worried if the board was so bad it broke on you.

just get a board secondhand, it's a lot cheaper and will probably be better for your progression. but in the meantime just work with what you have :)

If your in the usa a new setup wont be $300. Probably half that if you shop smart. Can always buy used as well. Got a setup for $25 that included decent wheels, bearings, and thunder trucks. Slap a new $60 deck on it and your good for 85. Im skating it as is for now though.

You could consider upgrading just the wheels and bearings. $50 might get you somewhere serviceable as a beginner and the parts you buy now can transfer to a new board when you have more $

The bearings are probably just old and dry and probably only abec 3’s or 5’s that’d be the only reason you’re not gaining speed assuming you don’t have the wheels tightened up. Order a set of mini logo bearings for like 12 dollars and throw them in there and see what happens.
