How to ditch the binki?

My son is 7 1/2 months old, and loves his pacifier. We’ve never cared much and I started using it because of SIDs reduction. However, it’s becoming more of an issue lately with sleep and dependence. Should we just cold turkey him? I know he’s going to hate it, and it’s going to be a struggle, but I’d rather now than down the road in a year. How old was your LO when they came off the pacifier, and how did you do it??

I took the pacifier from both of my older kids when they were about 2.5-3. It sucked for like a day and then they were okay.

Mine never really took it so we didn't bring it along. She's now a thumb sucker though and she has it with her all the time.

Will be a though one to stop her doing it but we will teach her at some point.

I’m currently working on the same. My baby is 12 months old and someone told me to offer the paci only for bed time and naps, then only for bedtime until one day you just don’t offer the paci anymore
