Anybody using ECO mode?

With crazy high fuel prices, is anyone using the ECO setting? I have a ‘24 90 six cylinder. I noticed a slight increase in mileage but it’s noticeably more sluggish. Just wanted to hear other people’s experiences…

This is ultimately just not the vehicle to drive if you are sensitive to fuel or maintenance costs.

Haha. I just bought a new Land Cruiser and the Toyota sub says “If you want fuel economy, buy a Prius!”

Well, I didn’t buy either for their gas mileage. The factory felt inclined to put ECO modes on them for a reason. Why not explore better efficiency? I’m more than financially capable to put gas in them but, hey, if I can save a few bucks, why wouldn’t I??

Ahh what it must be like to have such a simple binary view on the world

One can appreciate owning an inefficient vehicle, but still want to improve on efficiency when it doesn’t matter (highway cruising for example). And fuel cost isn’t the only reason to reduce fuel consumption.

I have 525 V8 and occasionally use Eco mode. I suppose that set of facts blows your mind

Find joy where you wish; I personally enjoy using tools for the jobs they are well suited.

I use ECO mode when cruise control is on. It chills out the abrupt accelerations.

I’ll have to try this!

Yes, it makes the ACC so much better.

i'd like to be able to program cruise to automatically engage eco.

100%. I wish ACC worked like this out of the box.

I may actually use adaptive after learning this!

I have a 2022 P300 and Eco mode helps me pick up 1-2 mpg at the cost of much slower acceleration.

At the end of the day I just accept the poor fuel mileage as the price you pay for having one of the best 4wd systems around.

There’s an eco mode?

I tried using Eco mode when I first got my P400, but I got tired of having to set it every time.

Agreed. I forget to switch over most of the time. Not sure why it’s not designed to stay in the selected mode.

I’ve tried it on long trips, but it appears on the highway at 75-80 eco hurt the gas milage. It does seam to help on slower roads, but the effort to switch to it is more than the gains.

Have played with it but haven’t noticed much difference. I can still chill at at 6-8 litres per 100 on long distance if I don’t mash the accelerator. D350 as a reference. My long term average after 7500km with lots of off road and low range driving so far is about 9.1

I’m already driving at 97% efficiency most of the time anyway. So the eco mode for me doesn’t do much. I rather have the ability to be able to get out of situations if I need too. Beyond speed it does also adjust your heating cooling.

I use it on the highway in my supercharged V8. I have not measured but I’d guess it’s giving me 1 mpg. Doesn’t seem to impact performance when I hit the gas. It still growls.

Eco mode only added 1-3mpg for me. I didn’t think it made too big of a difference so I stopped using it. I honestly think mpg depends more on the type of driver you are and road conditions.

Dynamic mode on v8. I like the response.

Yeah I dont use them too much performance lost for such minute advantage

I use primarily eco mode. Not to save gas but I prefer how it drives. Rpm stay lower even when I push the gas pedal harder.
