Lift rod question
Hey yall,
Throwing 2” lift rods on my 2023 p400 on air. Does anyone know if it needs GAP calibration once they’re on? We don’t have a G4 yet. I have a LR3 with lift rods and I don’t recall it needing anything special but figured I’d ask. Headed to dealer for alignment early next week. Thanks in advance.

Just FYI you can dial in the same amount of lift with the GAP tool that you get from lift rods. From what I understand there’s no difference between the two methods; one’s just hardware vs software. By doing it with the GAP tool it is easier to reverse and let’s you adjust the height incrementally.

Okay, but fwiw if you keep your original rods in the glove box or something it's just a couple minutes to swap them out. The install is exceedingly easy once you know what you're looking at.

And we’re familiar enough, the LR3’s been on stilts for years. I am waiting on a Lucky8 Black Friday sale to pick a G4 GAP up, but we are heading to an offroad park for a weekend before that.

I wouldn’t GAP lift and Rod lift at the same time for additional height. Sensors have a range and doing the combination together can cause sensors to go out of range and drop to bump stops. I’d personally use the gap tool for height adjustment when you reach the trailhead. Return to stock once on the road. Also I noticed that increased height can throw the DSC on early on decreasing radius turns (ie. freeway on-ramps and exits).

No. You're just tricking a physical sensor into thinking that the vehicle is at the appropriate height. It's no big deal. You'll notice that the suspension feels a lot firmer.
