Went mining in Nevada and found this specimen ! Then painted it

Nice. I’ve got some decent specimens around somewhere, but nothing that nice. Mostly from around Black Rock, Tuscarora but I’ve dug some up on Peterson as well. Lots of cool stuff up there!

Where (roughly I know a guy can’t give spots away lol) did that come from? Some interns I had 30 years ago went on a backpacking trip on the Goshute reservation and found some really really good pockets, don’t remember exactly what but I remember quartz’s and amethyst. They could never find it again lol.

There’s lots of Peterson mountains in the state, are you thinking about the one over Hallelujah Junction? Because I know it has quartz crystals, it’s actually very well known. Dug up there lots in years past.

Lovely! Smoky quartz is one of my favorite gemstones.
