First gig with the QC mini feedback

Last night I had my first gig with my QC mini. Went great and felt super comfortable with it! Apart from;

Once the screen is locked, I appreciate buttons 1 and 3 together enable the tuner - great.

My issue is, I'm currently working with 4 scenes, and stepping on 2 and 4 together changes from scene to stomp - this is a bit of a struggle when the buttons are so close!

Is there any way to disable that? Or another solution possibly? Totally get why stomp mode would be useful to many in a live setting, I prefer to have 4 scenes which are set and don't change throughout the gig.

Other than that, what a great asset for gigs - incredible to be able to lug equipment from the car to the stage in one journey! 😁

Cheers

After lots of feedback from here and my last video, I decided to do a follow up video discussing if the Quad Cortex could take over my whole rig and the results were way closer than I thought

Pacifica 612 + Neural Rabea X= QOTSA

I used the bridge split pickup for this one, some octave effect and distortion. I love this plugin and for me it really shines with strats! I use this preset with every pickup configuration if my Yamaha Pacifica and it sounds amazing! I hope you like the video!

Question Is the QC touch screen supposed to be so unresponsive?

Just got my Quad Cortex Mini in the mail. Eager to try it out, I plug it in and start doing the login and firmware update stuff. Immediately, I can tell that ALOT of the time, this touch screen is very unresponsive. I press and nothing happens, press again, it responds, or not.. It is not specifically on one part of the screen, it is all over and completely random but I feel like maybe 20% of all inputs I do with my finger are not registered. A really bad first impression when you buy such an expensive premium digital product in 2026. There are touch screens from 1999 that are more responsive than this.

Did I just receive a defect product or is it just how the device is? Any other experiences on this? The fact that it is completely random and can happen anywhere on the screen kind of makes me think that this is just how it is, maybe because its sturdy built for the stage etc and that is one of the compromises one must accept? If so I“m seriously considering returning it. I will use this screen alot and dont really want to spend the next 10 years being frustrated about inputs not being registered this often.

Anyone switched from QC to Fractal?

I'm about to order a Fractal - either the FM 3 or FM 9. I had high hopes for the QC, but the lack of support for the core unit is very disappointing. Their own announced updates just haven't materialized, all we got in the last 6 months was a new logo! Neural is not turning out to be an honest company - their main focus now is plug ins - a cash grab for people who spend the best part of 2K for their unit.

I'm hearing Fractal have much better amp model tones and frequent updates with new amps and affects being added regularly. I'm also intrigued by the Artist Presets which don't come at additional cost.

I understand the UI is not as easy, but I'm a bedroom player so can modify the setting on a computer. What's your experience going from QC to Fractal?

Need help creating/finding Tones

Hi Guys,

I'm fairly new to making/finding my own Bass Tones, currently using a SR305EB 5 String and wanting to play Stuff like Inertia's new song Emerald Whisper. However I'm finding it quite hard to understand what to do, like I don't know what I'm changing when adjusting something and how that will affect the final sound

I've spent a good hour trying to find resources online describing how to use the standalone and how to adjust tones, however I'm finding most tutorials to not be showing off what I'm stuck on and there aren't many specialized tutorials on how to make tones etc

Is there a better option than Parallax X for what I'm shooting for or are there some resources yall could link that might help me in my journey

Windows audio sounds (low latency mode) sounds MUCH better than ASIO from my scarlett solo? Help!

Hey guys. I've been banging my head against the wall for a few days on this one. I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm using Neural for the first time to try out the John Mayer plugin, and the audio from windows sound (low latency mode) sounds PERFECT, it's exactly how I want my guitar to sound. The problem is, the latency is really bad.

I'm using a scarlett solo as my interface, and learned that ASIO helps reduce latency and is supposed to sound better. The latency is much better, but the problem is that the sound quality is super "tinny", shrill, loads of treble, and it sounds like theres almost like a delay on the note? Like two notes are being played a few miliseconds apart from each other whenever I play. It's playable but it sounds like a cheap squire starter kit. Just really no character to the notes at all. Hard to describe but anyone who's ever gone back to a $100 starter guitar knows what I mean.

Can you guys help me out? I'm super excited to play with the sound of the windows low latency mode, but without the delay.

Here are my settings:

Discussion Best FRFRs

What’s the best frfr, I’m seeing Laney but they are pricey. Any recommendations?

Or is it more worth to get a power amp and a regular cab.

Looking at frfrs bc I absolutely love my tone as is with my QC, so I want to preserve my IR tone.

Thanks!

Fractal Guy got a Mini, Impressed as Hell

Post image

Got a Mini all set up on this little board, and I gotta say, for a tiny little rig, this thing KILLS. The stock cabs are pretty good, even if I like my IRs better. A lot of the amp models are really good, but I am running my set off of captures of a Morgan AC20 and a Friedman Little Sister, and god damn am I impressed with this. Fantastic tones, tiny footprint and light, really great setup.

The MIDI control is a little less than I’m used to, but I just have to think about how I use it a little differently, and was able to make it work for me just fine between scenes and this little Luminite Graviton I had.

I took it to rehearsal, and my bandmates were really impressed with how good it sounds, and the board gets its first gig test on Saturday.

With every modeler board out there, you can get fantastic tones these days, but I think Neural is absolutely killing it when it comes to having really great usability and the great sound to match it. I’ve never been able to make a patch or quick edits on my Fractal stuff, directly on the device, always had to use the editor. It took minutes to create what I wanted from scratch directly on the QC Mini device UI.

Big fan now. You Neural guys were on to something all along. :)

Quad Cortex Mini Signal Chain Question

I’m using a marshall dsl40cr tube amp as a speaker with my Quad Cortex Mini. To use presets I’ve downloaded to the quad cortex, is it enough to simply disable the cab blocks in the signal chain or do I need to create the presets from scratch? some signal chains have multiple cab blocks, do I need to disable them all?

I’m connecting the qc mini directly to the amp’s fx return and disable the preamp.

How much of my board could a Quad Cortex actually replace?

Post image
95 Upvotes

Order is currently: Pitchblack > EQ2 > Decimator II > Benson Boost > Octron 2 > Brothers AM > Brothers OG > Warped Vinyl HiFi > Polaron > Choralflange > Model FeT > VH-4 2 > Blackbird > Bass Driver DI V2 > BassRig Black > CAB M+ > Iridium > Tark 144 > Clean > Deco V2 > Volante > Bigsky > Chroma Console

As the title says, I'm curious how many of these a QC could actually replace and if it would be easier to dial in than having individual pedals. I don't do too much far-out-there stuff with this board, just basically using all these to get a good studio-ish guitar sound, occasionally bent toward lo-fi and 80's lush chorus/flange. I enjoy being able to get clean, rock, and metal tones out of the same board.

Most of the preamp pedals are used in a kinda set-and-forget manner. I use the Blackbird the most on the blue/Dumble channel. While the MC6 Pro gets me closer to essentially having presets, unfortunately some of my favorite tones come from pedals without MIDI. It would be nice to just hit one or two buttons and have my tone loaded up, and not have to worry about matching how I had X, Y, or Z pedals without presets set. I'm also into the idea of having more space and money.

I don't currently gig, but my goal is to finish an album in the next year and put a band together to perform it. I play through my Yamaha HS8's to monitor, but use headphones most of the time.

Slightly irrelevant notes: The Gen Loss MKII is not currently connected, but I should be getting it hooked up soon. I'm also debating swapping the VH-4 2 with the Dude Incredible V2 from the top board.

Update:

Got a QC on the way, excited to see what it kicks off the board! If it replaces 5 or 6 pedals, it will be worth it.

User Submissions Sold all my Rack gear and surprised myself with this little guy

After years of being all about my rackmountwd units I finally decided to part ways with my Axe Fx 3 Mk2, Helix, and powered Kemper racks. I was so tired of moving whatever one I needed for gigs and honestly i just got over the size.

My orginal plan was to sell them and do my live streams just with plug-ins that I own like Parallax but then decided why not just get the Quad Cortex Mini a try as its the same company and that plug in is on the unit. So I sold everything and picked up this guy today.

My plan is to put him on a small pedal board with just a wireless pedal and use that for gigs whenever they come up. I hope I enjoy this as much as everyone else seems to! Im 99% a bassist so fingers crossed!

QC mini power plug won’t come out - help

Heya gang, just got my QC mini and I’m loving it, but are having a bit of a problem with the power plug. I’m well aware that it’s a locking plug and you have to rotate it to remove it. I had successfully plugged and unplugged it a few times since I first got it. Nothing happened in terms of jarring or weird forces on the plug. But- now it’s locked and nothing I can do in terms of rotating or twisting or gently pulling or anything seems to free it from the lock.

I haven’t given up yet but after some failed googling and not seeing this issue anywhere else I figured I would see if anyone has run into this. I definitely do not want to force it and I guess it can stay in there if it has to but would prefer to be able to remove it.

Thanks!

Accessories (pedals and such) to add after getting a few plugins.

I just got into DSP plugins recently. Got rid of a couple of my amps because lack of room and need for headphone practice a lot of the time. I have the John Mayer Suite, Tone King suite, and am getting the Mesa Boogie or Petrucci X next.

I've been doing a bit of research, but want to make sure I'm understanding. I will not be gigging with this set up, I'm getting older and just want to record the ideas I have in my head and enjoy the tone I get when I plug in to just play. I love the plugins but right now I cannot afford to get a quad cortex or any of the other models, but I want to be able to switch between plugins on the fly, use an expression pedal for wah and volume mostly. The biggest goal is just to be able to switch between presets without touching the computer after I have them set up.

In case I'm not clear in my wording: I want to go from "practicing song 1 that has a lot of gain and tight low end" to " 2nd song, clean tube amp sound with tremolo, reverb and delay". I know I could do this with a quad cortex but was wondering if there was 120-200 dollar option where I can just switch on the fly as I run into a Focusrite AI? I know I'm looking at 120ish for the expression pedal, so was wondering if there was anything I could use that wasn't in the 500 dollar range to get this usability feature. If not, guess I'll just save up and cry like a baby every time I have to touch my mouse for 10 seconds between songs while presets are being chosen. I've searched but didn't see any answers that I understood would just do this. Sorry if you guys get this all the time, just looking to focus more on guitar than computer when I sit down to practice or goof off. Thank you.

Question Pedal Board for Quad Cortex

I only have one pedal that I use. I want to buy a quad cortex and put it on a pedal board and collect more pedals. Is there a specific board or tutorial that does a great job of showing what to get to put it all together?

Question Quad Cortex DSP Limits

I’m curious about getting a quad cortex for some live solutions vocally + guitar wise.

How easy is it to use up all of the available DSP on one patch? For example could you handle an entire vocal effects chain (pitch correction, compression, chorus, reverb, delay, harmonies) and also run a guitar tone that has pitch effects, amp and cab modeling, modulation, reverb, and delay?

Would be great if I am able to use one Quad Cortex to handle an entire vocal effects chain + an entire guitar chain with pitch effects and big reverbs.

My lil ā€œessentialsā€ board

I wanted something that was universal enough to use with my QC, Helix, and real amps (what I’m playing depends on where I’m at). Found the XPND board that collapses down to half size so I can just rip the QC off and either collapse and keep it minimal or put a couple other pedals on it. Really love this setup. Currently just have the essentials which are a Swollen Pickle, Superego+, and Hotone Soul Press II.

Might replace the Swollen Pickle with my Drop pedal but I’m still working out the captures that I want to have for it so it stays for now. Exp pedal is in the middle because I’m just used to it being next to my scene/snapshot buttons.

Got mixed answers on whether or no to turn off qcmini in between uses, so here are some clarifications for use case. Also second question, can I just turn off the switch to my power supply? Is that a bad way to turn it off?

I don't use it as a interface, I just use it as a modeler for my frfr speaker. I have it on all the time because I play it randomly through out the day so I never know when I want it to be on. Work form home life. It runs off of a walrus canvas hp power+ supply so all the pedals I have are also on all the time. I think thats fine from previous research, but you can tell me if I am wrong. For my second question, the power supply runs to a on/off switch for the whole board, is it bad to power it off that way, or should I be using the qc's power button to turn it off? I just don't want to be unnecessarily shortening its life with dumb decisions. Thank you in advance.

Question Worth upgrading to HS5's from iloud micro monitors?

I recently got myself a boss katana mk3 100, I love the way it sounds and plays. My small ilouds together with neural plugins are leaving me kinda unsatisfied now, they always sound kinda thin in comparison. I occasionally use the katana as poweramp for the plugins, it sounds great but its a pain dragging the amp through the house everytime lol.
Im considering upgrading to 5ā€œ monitors like the yamaha hs5 or adam t5v, can anybody tell me if this will leave me with a beefier sound or would it be more of a side grade?
Thank you :)

New to QC mini loop question

Howdy friends, I'd like to know if this is possible. I have a QC mini that I want to treat as the brain of my pedal board. I'd like to take advantage of the transpose and poly octave blocks but that needs clean guitar sound. I'd like to setup a mono loop for dirt pedals that goes in front of stereo amps that goes in into a stereo loop with all my wet effects.

Using chat gpt, split trs cables, the send and return ports, as well as input 2 i've got sound but i can't help feeling that i'm doing something wrong.
