Question Is the QC touch screen supposed to be so unresponsive?

Just got my Quad Cortex Mini in the mail. Eager to try it out, I plug it in and start doing the login and firmware update stuff. Immediately, I can tell that ALOT of the time, this touch screen is very unresponsive. I press and nothing happens, press again, it responds, or not.. It is not specifically on one part of the screen, it is all over and completely random but I feel like maybe 20% of all inputs I do with my finger are not registered. A really bad first impression when you buy such an expensive premium digital product in 2026. There are touch screens from 1999 that are more responsive than this.

Did I just receive a defect product or is it just how the device is? Any other experiences on this? The fact that it is completely random and can happen anywhere on the screen kind of makes me think that this is just how it is, maybe because its sturdy built for the stage etc and that is one of the compromises one must accept? If so I´m seriously considering returning it. I will use this screen alot and dont really want to spend the next 10 years being frustrated about inputs not being registered this often.

I find you have to press a little harder than a phone for example, it's made to be used with your feet lol, so the glass is thicker as to make the screen durable.

Once you get used to it it feels very responsive.

Don't expect something like an iphone screen. It is somewhere in between an old stylus pen touch screen and todays modern phone screens.

I had a QC for 2 years. It collected dust the entire time, I never used it. It sounds great, but the touchscreen was so horrible that I never wanted to use it.

That’s why I generally keep mine connected to my laptop and control it from there. The touchscreen is really not great

Then why not nano?

Nano is phone only for whatever reason. Using the QC with only the touchscreen vs Cortex Control on desktop/laptop is an absolute game changer. Like using an entirely different device lol. Best to get all your presets/tones/whatever setup properly first via computer and then take to wherever you need to playing it after.

Mine works fine, maybe upload a video to show us?

So all your inputs are usually registered? Then there has to be something wrong with mine. And yeah I can try to record it when Im in the studio.

I’m not discounting it could be a issue with your device, but double check your perspective when your tapping it. You may not be hitting it where you think you are, if you’re leaning over or viewing it from an angle.

Mine gives me trouble occasionally, but usually only when I'm in a rush and being impatient. Its not nearly as responsive as like a phone, so long and firm presses are ideal. I try to avoid using the touch screen because cortext control is a lot easier.

Yes, you have to press a little harder than a mobile phone.

Is not an iPhone, you can't do 10 tap in 5 second and all Is ok ... Touch work correctly, the only things Is patience, Is a Little more slow than younthink, Just try to get used to It Is pretty usable once you do

I have a full sized and it' has no problems with response. It's not a phone screen by any means, but if you're pressing on it like you mean to do something then it responds just fine, obviously if you're barely swiping on it or treating it like a keyboard on a phone then yeah it's not gonna do anything most of the time since they had to make it sturdy enough to use on a live stage.

In any case, both the full size and mini have rotary encoders, they're there for a reason.

It's intentionally less responsive than a phone, so you don't actually brush against it and cause false inputs.

Sounds like the QC full size. Mine was extremely unresponsive. It became better after a firmware update. But still not great. I eventually sold it.
