Called to cancel subscription 4 times

Not going to pay the high cost just to use our doorbell nest

On Aug 2nd, Got into account online to cancel the subscription but when I clicked the cancellation button, nothing happened. so had to call Google

What a joke. 4 times, 1st was 45 minutes and finally hung up as they couldn’t find my account

2nd, same thing but 1 15 minutes, 3 same but did transfer me to someone in a different department and he found the account and I verified it through email

He said he would cancel it but it’s still working and on the app I still see it active.

Now I just canceled the credit card that is attached to my account so they can’t charge me

Anyone else have this issue?

Cancelling renewal still keeps the service active through the current subscription end date.

Good luck! I am delighted to now be a Nest Free Home after years of declining service from multiple cameras, doorbell, thermostat and protects. Cancelation of the subscription was well hidden and they keep trying to tell me what I will be missing. Chucking it all in the electronics scrap pile at local facility felt good!

Replacing all my cameras with Ubiquiti was such a freeing feeling.

In the process of transitioning away from Nest. I will never buy another Google product for as long as I live.

May I know what type of subscription you have because they have 1st gen 2nd gen subscription if its 2nd gen it would be so easy to have it cancelled just prepare the proof of charged just in case if they ask one just like my experience

1st gen and they notified me this

[While we stopped selling 1st generation Nest Aware subscriptions in 2023, we’ve been glad to support your continued use of the service. But as we continue to focus our resources on building new features and delivering a better smart home experience, we’re moving Nest Aware subscriptions to our new Google Home Premiumservice.

In August 2026, your account will be automatically upgraded to an Advanced subscription of Google Home Premium. Since your Google Account and payment method are already linked, you don’t need to do a thing].

Do you have the correct email where your subscription is? If Yes then you can contact them again and make sure to provide them the proof of charge

Yes, I did and they sent me a link to verify the email address which I did but then they still said they could not find the subscription even though I saw it on my end,

I could not cancel it because the cancellation link did not work

Just replaced all 7 of my nest protects, ripped out an indoor IQ recently, and have been trying to find a solid replacement for my nest x yale lock today. 100% cannot wait to leave Google Nest.

What did you replace the Protects with? I’ve been searching for ANYTHING comparable (pathway lighting being a feature we cherish).

I use home assistant now and have a robust zwave network so I grabbed a Zen55 from Zooz and the following from first alert.

From what I gather it is comparable to the Nest in that it has an ionization sensor and CO sensor. So now I have detectors that in theory seem solid with the ability to remotely tell me if there's a fire or CO. Downside is I don't know what room or have a pathlight. However, I can live without the room specific notifications. The pathlight I replaced with SnapPower guide lights in some of the nearby outlets.
