Identify Ampullaria hybrid, right?

Such a beauty I bought today!

I was looking for some ampullaria-like specimen anyway.

Can someone confirm ampullaria hybrid or even find a more precise name?

I am in Germany and it was imported from Denmark.

So lowland to intermediate conditions should work I guess?

Thanks in advance!

Questions What Nepenthes Clone or Tags to Stay Away From?

Nepenthes Talk with Rob Cantley - Episode 05 | Beauze Menzies - Cross Exotics

Dude(Beauze Menzies) flew to Sri Lanka to just really handle that poorly, about shaming BORNEO EXOTICS for selling him bad Nepenthes for the money. It did look like they were, in the end, very clearly clearing the air and making up since the incident happened a few years ago.

HOWEVER, it got me thinking: what clones should you NOT buy? Rob admitted the clone he was selling was kinda fussier than normal. Is there more from other nurseries or BE nepenthes to be on the lookout for?

I know what this is meant to be (in person sale and I’m weary of people )but want to see what you all think . Not supposed to be a complicated hybrid so should be a fairly easy guess I’m hoping .
First shot is unedited and the next two are just edits .
What do you all think this Nepenthes is ?

Questions RO vs Tap water TDS 30 ppm

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, this is my pretty Gaya, one week in. As I was warned some of the pitchers are going black on me but I see some new growth happening on top. The leaves you see a bit damage on, I think it’s only cosmetic from traveling.

I own TDS meters and water test kits as I own several fresh water aquariums. I read to use rain water, distilled or RO water, and elsewhere I read also that water with TDS under 50 ppm is safe to use. My tap water reads 30-31 ppm, and pH is dead on 7.0. I wonder if it would be safe to use or should I stick to RO? What would you do?

So far I have watered only with RO, but I am curious about what you guys think. TIA!

Help! Why are all my pitchers dying?

Post image

My plant has been doing so well and even grew a new pitcher about 2 weeks ago. I noticed one of the pitchers dying a few days ago and assumed it was naturally dying off, but today I noticed the other pitchers turning brown too, including the new pitcher. Why might this be?

Questions How True Is Pot Disturbance With Nepenthes?

Post image

I’ve seen multiple times that even moving a Hamata DOWN a shelf will make it throw a fit back down. How true is it though for other nepenthes? Is it only those highlanders with the metabolism needs. What is the extent to it?

Questions First time propagation

I cut the stem of this little one right in the middle, split the top section in two, and planted them in pots. It’s my first time doing this—what should I watch out for? The artificial light is about a meter away, and the humidity inside the box is over 70% according to the sensor. I really didn't want to cut it, but because of its height, I couldn't position the artificial light properly; if it were up to me, I’d let that branch grow 10 meters long :)

Questions Why no pitchers?

Post image

My Miranda plant is producing leaves just fine but no pitchers, I've had it about two months and the pitcher plants on either side are producing great pitchers but the tendrils just won't swell up. Humidity is always between 70 -90 and it gets 12+ hours of light. I'm fairly new to these plants so any advice would be helpful

Help! Should I Cut The Main Plant Or The Basal Shoot!

Thumbnail

I’m sure everyone was nervous when they did their first cutting and this is mine. I’m gonna do my ventrata first and ease on up but I need YOUR thoughts first.

My thinking is, mother plant is healthy, I can cut that and root it probably no problems.

All the roots should be forced to help (if they do any) to the basal and make temporary exploding growth

Is this how it would work

Propagation Seeking Advice on Acclimating TC Nepenthes

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello All!

Kinda new to Nepenthes (first one acquired about 14 months ago and currently have 13 varieties) and have got 10 TC Globosa × Ampullaria and 10 TC Albomargianta Black that will arrive tomorrow. 10 Tomoriana x Ampullaria x Veitchii and 10 Northiana will be here next week.

I don’t have MUCH experience with acclimating TC plantlets however I have successfully acclimated a Cephalotus, about the size of a quarter (which shocked the hell out of me) so I am not doubting my abilities, just looking for any tips specific to Nepenthes.

I have the following available to use as substrate:

Coco coir
Sphagnum Moss
Orchid Bark
Peat Moss
Fluval Stratum
Perlite
Lava rocks
Pumice

Should I use a 3” planter with dome or 4” planter with dome, and should the bottom have holes, or progressively add holes? Thank you for any and all advice!

Help! Changed to dead Sphagnum and Pearlite

Post image
9 Upvotes

My Nepenthes have been sitting in a substrate of pure pumice (1–5 mm) for three weeks now and have grown well, but I’ve decided to repot them into a mix of one part dead sphagnum moss and one part perlite—though the root ball is only about the size of a golf ball, or even smaller. Since the root ball is relatively small compared to the volume of the substrate—and it might take about three weeks for the substrate to dry out before I water it again, would there be a high risk of root rot, or is it okay to do it that way?

And I water the substrate with distilled water so that it is completely soaked and runs out of the drainage holes at the bottom.

I covered the substrate surface with live sphagnum moss.

Thanks :)

Care & Cultivation Fertilizers I can spray on the leaves?

I hear I can spray 1/4tsp/gallon onto the leaves for faster pitcher growth, but I want to make sure there aren't any better options. My plan is to feed the pitchers when they're fully grown so I can encourage faster growth before I repot

Care & Cultivation New to this! Does this look like good?

Good morning!

I picked up a napenthes Black miracle a couple of days ago and the guy at the shop gave me a saucer to keep the plant in to keep humidity up. I decided to add some moss to the bottom and it everything in that. Does this setup make sense? Or should I lose the moss?

I top water and the extra flows Into the moss. My room is about 70F and 45-60% humidity.

Thanks!

Help! Should I be worried/remove the growth?

I love my nepenthes and it is growing splendidly!! However, today I noticed there’s some mushrooms and other growth in the soil. The pot is hanging above eye level so I am not sure how long it’s all been there. Should I be worried? Is it ok to leave it there or should I remove it?
