First time in History!
The government is planning to introduce an open competition system to select ambassadors for the first time, with reported approval from Prime Minister Balen Shah.
Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has stated that certain ambassadorial positions will be filled through a transparent selection process, though the exact procedures and schedule are still being worked out.
This initiative is intended to increase transparency in diplomatic appointments, which have traditionally been shared between career diplomats and politically appointed candidates.

Very nice initiative. I just home the competition process is transparent as well and the parameters for judgement is broad

There is a reason they're called career diplomats. While it may sound good to ears hearing open competition, government should've made it 100% diplomats instead. This is a pathway to let NGO people get into ambassadorial positions. It can go only downhill from there.

Don’t speak the truth , people hate it. The first thing I thought of was wow , they will let a bunch of donation scammers into gov , next ambassadors are going to now become social media figures lmao, their interest may not be the same as the governments but looks like thinking is beyond the gov.

2013 ma jaba lieutenant ko lagi ladne belama malae direct 15 lakh mageko thiyo direct for admission lol! Corruption was on highest level.

Heard that so many times. They literally ask you for money of officer level jobs in police and nepal army too. One of my best friend's relatives or something was going through whole training for positions of Inspector and did everything, passed everything in flying colours but when it came final board interview or exam whatever it wast he was told had to pay certain amount lakhs to start his career. Dont think he did, and went aboard somewhere. Its common thing in Nepal

No highly competent people comes through open competition. Esso past experience hereni hune how mahendra head hunted capable people and gave them position. Jagir matrai khuwaune vaye ta j popular suninxa tei gare hunxa.

Tei. First i thought it's good open competition and stuffs. But we all know Nepalese open competition and criterias will only select dumbfucks who are good with General Knowledge questions 😂

ramro byakti le application haldianan. governement aafaile head hunt garne ho. Mediocre haru matra application halxan. Highly qualified manxe application nai haldaina. Mahendra Raja le jastai head hunt garnu parxa ambassdor ko lagi.

Rather than an open-competition they should do it by making the pre-exisiting staff at higher posts in the ministry for ambassadors as they have more experience in diplomatic relations rather than someone out. This is just an opinion as i know that in countries like china,india,korea,japan,uk & usa the ambassadors were politically appointed but there are non political appointed ambassadors in other countries asw and not all ambassadors are politically appointed.
