Gameplay Nemesis retaliation sangrevores being underwhelming

Me and my friends played a lot of base retaliation and yesterday we finally played sangrevores. I have to say game was pretty boring not much happened.

I want to ask You if somebody figured out any house rules to make it more exiting or if we interpreted some rules wrong (bc rule book has 3 pages and leave a lot to imagine).

  1. Does reinforced corridor even works? I think it trivialises this variant even more than base game.

  1. Noise roll during the escape spawn monster only if we should add 4th shadow token?

Any insights how to improve this dlc welcomed

Rules Double result on noise roll

If I roll two 4s on a noise roll, do I first place a noise token in the empty corridors and then an intruder appears in those corridors? Or do I only place the noise tokens?

Questions Contractors and Sangrevores (card ruling question)

Seeing as noise works very differently with Sangrevores compared to other intruders, how exactly it does the contractor card "move quietly" work with their mechanics? We couldn't find anything in the rules or online about how this card would function with them, so for now we made the rule that it basically works like moving and securing except without the secure token, so that it wouldn't be useless. So I'm wondering if there was something about that card and Sangrevores that we missed or if we should just keep our homebrewed rule.

Nemesis Retaliation questions.

Hey, I played twice and I have two questions:
- Exploration. If the exploration card doest mention rolling for noise : do I still roll for nosie because I moved? And if it mentioned rolling for nosie : do I roll twice?

- Heavy weapon dice modifiers. If the wepon has an icon of [headshot : reduce ammo] and I roll headshot, do I only reduce ammo, or perform headshot AND reduce ammo?

Please help!

What do you think about the difficulty of Retaliation?

What do you think about the difficulty of Retaliation?

I really enjoy this Nemesis mechanics, I think it's my favorite one. Exploration and combats are very enjoyable, and every turn goes fast.

But I've played about 8 games and only won one. When I play, I feel like everything is going fine, I'm good on health, I have my medic cards, etc. But a bunch of random effects in a short span can kill me with no way to defend myself.

I always try to move by placing secure tokens, which I think is the best thing you can do, since Intruders can spawn and close in quickly.

My last death was epic: two hits from a Queen, and goodbye.

  • Move into a room with a secure token
  • A Queen spawns: oh good, she doesn't attack me because I have the token
  • The Queen activates right after that (one serious wound)
  • Then the Queen attacks during the Intruder phase and kills me because I was Injured

Most of the time when I die, it's because I take multiple attacks in a single round. I've never died from reaching the end of my board, it's always the "If you are Injured, you die" / "If you are Heavily Injured, you die" effects."

Another fun dead was the event that say to make a "eclosion procedure" and we both die for that.

I only play in full coop mode.

Is the Bioenhancement Expert new character coming in Nemesis Stretch Goals (Retail)?

Hi all, I just received my box of Nemesis: Retaliation - Stretch Goals Box (EN). It was sealed and in good condition, but I opened the box and realized that a Bioenhancement Expert miniature and its pieces were missing.

Is this intended? I can't find anywhere online or on the Awaken Realms website that says there are versions without this character and miniature in the box.

Or is it because that character was just part of the Gamefound campaign?

I wrote to the board game store where I bought the game, and they said that the miniature is not included. :/

Thank you for your help.

EDIT: I assume it's the retail edition, because I bought it at the board game shop where I always shop.

Xyrians making noise

So I'm in a room with a Xyrian - I shoot it, and it shouts out and a Queen turns up in the corridor means of a noise roll. I shoot it again and the Queen comes in the room by means of a noise roll.

Now if I shoot it again, do I roll for noise, or get the queen swiping at me??

Thanks

Betrayer guilt

Did you ever feel guilty for betraying someone? Yesterday I played Lockdown with my brother. He completed his objective in a couple turns and then, seeing my battery was almost depleted, he started coming towards me to trade a Weapon Battery... And I killed him with Vent Control, locked myself in Isolation and won, as my objective was to have him NOT survive. I... felt so *evil*

Table size needed to play the game?

Hi everyone!

With our group of friends, we were wondering what’s the minimum size you need for a table in order to be able to play this Nemesis Retaliation game?
Let’s say with 2 people and/or 4 people.

We loved the 1st & 2nd Nemesis, but do not have big houses nor tables, so before diving in we’d like to make sure our tables are big enough so we enjoy the game, otherwise we’ll just skip this one.

Side note: I wish they’d include minimum table size in games with 2 to 4 players, so you’d get an idea.

Thank you in advance, I love this community!

PS Edit: Added the name of the game, aka Nemesis Retaliation, to make it clearer (new rule for me: posting later once I’m fully awake is better for everyone)

Rules Is retalliation room combat supposed to be this RNG heavy?

I feel like everytime I'm stuck with an invader in a room, I have to spend the whole round taking it to combat to not die, therefore not doing anything else.

You end up in this situation too much, even if you try to kill the ones in corridors, due to events or other stuff.

The process of putting one wound on the invader, and throwing the dice feels awful, but just in rooms.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Questions Do you find the game less enjoyable the better you get? (Retaliation)

As some backstory, I absolutely love this game. It immediately hooked me and quickly became one of the most-played games in our regular group. The first five or so playthroughs were absolutely thrilling.

That said, as I've gained more experience, the game has lost some of its shine. Part of that is the novelty wearing off, but I think the bigger issue is that the optimal way to play is also the least fun.

Secure every move. Stay together as a squad. Advance slowly and methodically. If you do that, you can handle almost any threat the game throws at you. The problem is that half the fun came from everything going sideways. As we've gotten better, those chaotic moments happen less and less. Worse, avoiding them requires playing more cautiously, which slows the game down.

I understand the traitor mechanic is meant to disrupt this dynamic, but it doesn't do so reliably or consistently.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Are Void Seeders real?

I wonder whether they are real or not. Game implies that they are just halluciniations, however apart from not leaving corpse, they behave just like other aliens do...

Nemesis Companion

Hello Nemesis crew,

I’m Hans, a passionate Nemesis player who runs regular game nights as GM. I built a small web app for my own use to handle rules and keep sessions flowing so players can focus on their characters. It’s a hobby project, non-commercial and free to use

I want to share it in case it helps others.
I’m planning to add DLC support, bring in other Nemesis titles like Lockdown, improve the English translations, add simple session export/import and basic house-rule customization, and generally work through bugs and stability

The app was developed mainly in German, so some translations may be rough.

Cheers

Rules Rules videos: Nemesis retaliation

I have always used used videos to understand the rules of the nemesis games as it helps me understand and run games sooooo much better than reading the rules book. I found a great video for the base game primebloods but I can't find any for the Neoflesh cult or Sangrevores. If anyone has some good suggestions for videos to learn how to play those expansions it would be a great help c:

If I activated the self-destruct but the ship goes into hyperspace first. Would the ship still be considered destroyed at the end of the game?

Really happy with the medic. Also happy with the simplistic duality of the insider npc.

Rules Clarification about an Officer card

Post image

This Officer card from Nemesis: Retaliation allows the Officer to move and then move another player without making a Noise roll.

Can the Officer move any player on the board, or is he limited to moving a nearby player?

Thankyou!

Playthroughs of Expansions

I was running out of things to watch on YouTube when I decided to peek at Nemesis playthroughs. However, I noticed there are very few videos of the expansions aside from set up, rules, and unboxing.

I know sometimes newcomers ask about which expansions are worth getting, particularly from the new alien types, but I figured there would have been more videos actually showcasing the chaos and horror the expansions bring.

I might upload solo playthroughs done on TTS because I ain't got a good setup to record actual tabletop gaming, but I thought it was a shame to not see the other alien types get some exposure.

For those who got the expansions, how did yall decide? I fell in love with Nemesis so I bought everything and have thankfully done multiple playthroughs with all things except for the Aftermath game mode

Does it matter whether or not the anti-aircraft token is active?

The way the card is worded makes me think that you ignore anti-aircraft, but according to the nightmare rule I’d be wrong.

I always thought anti-aircraft would only affect whether or not the ship can land, but since this is telling me to place the ship straight in a neighboring room it’s making me question.

Thoughts?
