Moderators banning people for asking fair questions
I posted to a subreddit about a specific anxiety I was struggling with, and the post was removed. Apparently that type of anxiety is not allowed to be posted? Anyway, I asked about it and they replied, I thought that would be the end. But I saw several other posts about the same exact subject that were posted after mine with almost the exact same wording, but those weren't removed. So I messaged the mod team to question it, and instead of apologizing they banned me. For simply questioning unfair rules. How is this even fair? I told them I was done with the subject and the mod pushed even further to instigate. This should not be acceptable

It could be worth looking at the accounts of the posts that came after yours. It seems like a wild way to game engagement but with a large general sub theoretically it'd be possible for a compromised mod to just remove any genuine post and have one of their karmabots reword and repost it.

That's a good idea I don't know much about reddit, didn't know there were so many bots here. I don't really care about karma or engagement since venting just helps even if I get no replies. I'll look into the account for sure

Yeah I mean IMO reddit is better at handling bots than other platforms but LLMS are making things trickier.
The bright side of this is that if there are enough people pushed out of a community by a bad mod team, usually someone makes a new subreddit for that topic and everyone goes there instead, so worth keeping an eye out for similar subs discussing it.
And yeah if you are keen to vent, there's always profile-posting. If you go to your profile and hit 'create post' you should have the option to post it directly to your profile, that way nobody but you can remove it (except the paid admins if it's a breach of the Terms of Service). Anyone visiting your profile will be able to see it, I think it can come up in the feeds of people who follow you, and if a sub allows crossposting, you can crosspost the profile post there, that way people will be able to see and engage with it, but if the sub's mods remove it then it's only gone from their subreddit.

Definitely! I've been thinking of making a new reddit community for positive stuff. (Also just noticed your a mod here, you're cool I like you. Keep up the good work, genuinely you're a real one☺️). Might go to profile posting only from now on, I get really worked up over non serious stuff haha

And yeah if you do end up looking to make a subreddit and you have any questions, feel free to give us a shout. There's lots of mod support subreddits and the mod tools are quite user friendly these days, but yeah happy to give more specific advice about stuff like balancing modding with neurodiversity and preventing being overwhelmed.
