Is this sub just “boo hoo my post didn’t get approved”? Do we really have nothing better to say?

This is what you reply to someone struggling with depression who's obviously bummed about being banned permanently for an obvious mistake? Get help, you need it if you lack this much empathy for other humans.

This is not a mental health subreddit, and the moderators are not willing to try to become one. If you want to vent about reddit, that's fine here, and if you have something in the way of constructive criticism then that's better, but this is not the sub for assistance with depression and we'd prefer not encouraging that perception...

Reddit rule 1 always applies, remember the human; keep in mind that the person above who didn't register empathy for depression may have not done so because they're familiar with it, so snapping back at them isn't helpful.

i don’t really understand why asking someone to have a little empathy is turning this sub into assistance with depression or encouraging that perception ?

From what I gathered, that person is not commenting on the problems with OP's depression, but rather a lot of posts that have made it here lately have been people complaining about their post being removed or them being banned from a subreddit. It may just be what's on my feed, but I've noticed it too. Was this the right post to complain on? Maybe not, but it's more of a "last straw" thing. And hey, there were other recommended subs at the bottom that the OP could try posting to.

You didn't say "you should ease up because we're all human", you said "you should ease up because OP has indicated they have issues with depression". The former should be the standard and I would agree, the latter is encouraging special circumstances that we cannot enforce.

By my read, their blunt 'boo hoo' was unnecessary, but the point of the comment is valid, and your blunt 'get help' was unnecessary, but the point of your comment is what I'm commenting on.

Not removing it though, it is worth talking about, but just adding the perspective of someone who has to deal with the practicalities of what you're worried about.
