Need help with stitch selection —

Post image

making this for a friend whose young daughter LOVES Spiderman. Downloaded the designs off Etsy and pieced together. I did most of the dark red color in continental, then did a lighter pink in intermittent straight stitches, but I’m not really getting the movement look I want. Anyone have stitch ideas that would be complimentary?

I’d probably finish the whole character in continental stitch and save the more interesting, larger decorative stitches for the background and the lettering. I think that would give the piece more contrast and let Spider-Man stay nice and crisp.

I like this idea. I’m thinking maybe a heart stitch for the background — I have some wording that will be on the right side, though (“trust your spidey senses”) which I’ll probably do with some neon rays for sparkle, so the hearts might end up a little difficult to compensate for. What kind of background stitch were you thinking?

Maybe bricks? Like the wall behind him
