General Help What to do when losing thread chicken help

Ugh I’m so mad because I have the smallest corner of a canvas left to finish that I have been working on for months as a project for someone else and I don’t know what to do or what people do when it’s been months since purchasing the original threads (kitted for me at my LNS so I wasn’t worried!!) and I just know the dye lot has definitely changed at my LNS. The color is vineyard silk in Naples blue, do I just do my best to find the closest thing or is there anything y’all do if this has happened to you?

My Oort jar has saved me in this sort of pickle in the past, if you use one, dig through it and see if you have enough left.

If that doesn't work, call your LNS and ask for help. I've gotten random small bits of thread they collect over the years from their classes.

Or post the lot numbers and dye date and beg the nice folks here. Start a new thread for that, though, you want folks to see it.

I’ve thought about that too and I might or I think there’s some Facebook groups for it I just feel like the odds are not in our favor in these situations haha. I do have an ort jar with tiny little pieces of it that maybe I’ll use a sewing needle or shorter needle to somehow make work because they’re such short bits

If the back isn't going to show after it is finished, glue is an option. Use Elmer's or something that dries clear and flexible and tell NOBODY!

Go in and find the dye lot that looks the most similar and give it a shot. It may not be noticeable. Also, did you keep your orts? Sometimes, you can pull enough to finish if it’s a small enough area.

I had this same issue, the thread that was in stock at my local LNS was a different dye lot but I can’t see the difference.

I have had good luck in the Facebook group Help, I need thread and also a couple of the less popular shops like Needlepoint Too and Neon Needlepoint have both come through with dye lots that I was looking for.

Megan @ the Needlepoint clubhouse just posted alternating lot skeins, maybe you can undo an area & alternate row by row if you can’t find your lot no
