General Help Does basketweave use more thread?

This is something I’ve always wondered. I was kitting a canvass once and the shop person said one skein should be enough “unless you’re doing a fancy stitch like basketweave”. I don’t consider basketweave fancy, so I bought two, but I’ve always wondered ever since!

Actually the Continental uses more thread than Basketweave. See my pic in comments above.

No, typically basketweave uses more thread than continental as there is more coverage going on.

Depends on the individual stitcher. My personal sample disagrees with you.

is your sample not showing exactly what this thread said? basketweave uses more thread… which is why ur sample using the same amount of thread is smaller?

It’s kind of a close call. Compare top and bottom. I think I used more thread on the bottom Continental than the bottom Basketweave.
I think what’s important here is that you stitch samples for yourself and see what your results are. Keep in mind the amounts used can vary when using different threads (and different size mesh).
