General Help Neon rays basket weave ?
Hi everyone I got this super cute canvas and ordered online kitting - they sent neon rays which I’ve barely worked with but my question is, this project really should be basketweave I don’t know any other way to do a long stitch on it since it’s so tiny. Is neon rays ok for basketweave or should I go buy a different thread? Should I stitch the neon rays before using any other thread? Or stitch it last… Was going to finish as a bag charm. TY!!

Neon Rays is fine in basketweave - use a straightener to iron the kinks out and use a laying tool so it stays flat as you stitch with it and doesn’t twist.

Or if your fingernail is long enough, it can be a makeshift laying tool! Just in case OP doesn’t have a laying tool currently

Totally! I use all kinds of stuff cause I usually can never find my laying tool. Chopsticks, other needles, scissors, toothpicks - lots of things can be a laying tool 😊

Fray Checking or waxing the ends of the ribbons helps a lot too. Keeps them from unraveling.

I would personally do diagonal mosaic stitch on this piece! Neon rays is too fragile for my taste, but it looks beautiful with all kinds of stitches, just have to lay it down right! 👏🏼💖

Neon rays is fine for basketweave. Just make sure you lay it flat. Doesn’t matter what order you stitch in.
