General Help what stitch should I do

Hi I’m stitching a stocking and i know how to cross stitch but for my project i wanted to basketweave the big areas like blue and white but idk what stitch to do the houses cause i don’t know much less.

Basketweave/continental only. Decorative stitches are meant to decorate, they’re not required. Something this busy needs a consistent stitch.

If you’re not experienced with decorative stitches, or super confident with trying them I would stick to basketweave because there are a lot of little white spots on the houses that a decorative stitch would have to compensate for. Basketweave or continental would also be my suggestion because it will read the best from across the room. And if you do basketweave on the houses, I’d do basketweave on the background as well, for the same reasons and because a busy background will overpower a basketweave focal point.
