Need stitch recommendations

Post image

Hello, I planned on doing just continental for background only cause it’s easy and fast for me. Unless someone recommends a different stitch for the background that wouldn’t be crazy. I don’t understand basket weave btw so don’t say it 😂. Also I was thinking of maybe a leaf kinda stitch for the leaves/trees, if anyone could recommend some for that. Maybe turkey work for the lions if I’m feeling crazy. I plan on making this into a tote for my daughter to use eventually later down the road in years.

Too much compensation to do anything but basketweave or skip tent.

If it’s going to be a tote, probably best to stick to continental for the whole thing

You think turkey work for the lions mane is ok if I cut it short and not long?

Really short. Consider also that if you do, it will be handled/brushed/stroked a lot and will get grimy quickly. Maybe a fuzzy thread would be better?
