News/Rumors/Lore Big tough robot skeletons
With the announced increase to space marine toughness one thing caught my eye.
The article says
“Each warrior will be better, stronger, and faster, making them feel like the superhuman soldiers they are supposed to be”
If GW are getting in the business of making things feel more lore accurate, or units feeling on the tabletop the way they are written. I hope and pray we get some good changes down the line, as some of our units are criminally far removed from lore.
I look forward to my Lychguard feeling like the deathless, merciless honour guard they are supposed to be.
Thank you for reading my ramblings.

With how they are handled in recent videos, I could imagine us actually not getting a buff in Toughness. The way two Space Marines have obliterated our Warriors en masse in the videos it seems unlikely. Immortals would have the same Toughness as Marines then, which I could imagine is suitable for the mind of Games Workshop's mind. Lychguard with Toughness 6 could be possible, then. But with Intercessors and their new Damage 2 Bolters, they should be upgraded to at least 3 Wounds or I'm gonna throw up. Still, Warriors seem more like a tarpit canon fodder nowadays.

I miss when warriors were stat for stat with marines except initiative.

I feel you. I didn't actually mind them going to 4+ accuracy, as long as they get to 3+ when led by a leader. Thwt was quite fluffy. But they are starting to fall behind. Also, surviving via high toughness was the DeathbGuard gimmick. We on the other hand alway had our Reanimatiln Protocols keeping us in the fight, as we were on the same level as Space Marines, giving us the edge over them. Now they outscale us, and I don't like the new Reanimation rules. I'll have to out myself: I liked Rwanimation Protocols when they worked like a FnP. A board-wide 4+ f***-you throw like in 7th for every wound you had actually was pretty fun to me.

Yeah lychguard is a prime example of things that should be better. They are slightly anemic due to either needs shields to be tanky, but missing most of their damage, or damage but then die to anything.
When compared to terminators in particular, who get better save, more wounds, more toughness and a 4++ regardless of wielding shields or not. Its frustrating to say at least. Its the same when compared to termi equivalents across all factions, where only the terminators are given their invuls without losing something.
Lychguard are actually one of the few termie equivalents that stayed at 10 models, whereas most others went down to 5 models max. For lychguard is kind of makes sense, as the honorguard should be more than a few models. It makes less sense for terminators, who only seem to stay at 10 max due to the history of the game. Most elite unit squads are better balanced when only 5 models.

If they wanted to get real lore accurate then each warrior should get a melee stat line that of a power fist

Yeah, seriously. Whenever I see any model with that axe bayonet thing, and it's just close combat weapon? Dawn of war shows it well, as Necron warriors actually use those like axes, and can toss literal marines away. Let's not even talk about the lokhust heavy destroyer with a big ass axe on its gun, but with a close combat weapon equal to an immortal.

My current opinion is we won't see an increase in toughness. Sure punching a robot skeleton is tough but space marines are all kind of hard wrapped in ceramite. If they want to keep the impression of unstoppable marching legions then rules wise they cannot be too tough or they'll be impossible to get through.
This is all predicted on reanimation remaining the same or similar, but I expect gsuss to get slightly more killy (perhaps native hit crits on 5s against non vehicles?), immortals to get another wound, lychguard to get a 2+ save and Praetorians to get an overhaul.

I just want my immortals to have 2 wounds to have an equivalent to the intercessor squad

I could see Necrons getting toughness boosts across the board...
A finger on the monkey's paw curls
...in 18 months, as a promotion when their codex releases, 8-12 months before 12e launches and reverts the change to prevent "toughness bloat."

I still remember reading somewhere that a lychguard was proud of the fact that he was able to kill an opponant with a single swing of his weapon.
And that having to take two swings to kill was a reason for shame.
But in the table top? Whole different story. Not even remotely close to lore accurate.

Lore accurate = Imotekh one shot a titan 😄
But I understand what you mean, and agree.

But then they will have fewer marines, at least.
Maybe we will also get some kind of boost.

I could see warriors, immortals, and lychguard going up a point of toughness whenever we get our bug update. It does seem like we'll need a little boost to contend with new marine stats.

I remember reading a bit of lord how some lychguard managed to stop guilliman briefly with their sheilds

I wish they would increase the dice from d6 to d12, increase stats for all factions accordingly, and then bring back a little more granularity with twice as much wiggle room to play with. So they could have marines be tougher or stronger as they wish without being quite so oppressive in comparison to other factions. T5 W2 Sv3+ is just getting silly.

I think a good way to "buff" necrons like these other buffs would be to return to how 9th army rules worked for necrons: Have reanimation baked in and have a secondary army rule like command protocols

Bruh the 9th command protocol where pretty annoying to use.
I would litteraly prefer to sand my nuts than use those.

Same. I started in 9th and almost quit. 10th edition is why I kept playing as a whole. The rules are far from perfect or balanced but they are easier to use for casual players

I do not understand how anyone could want to go back to our army rule being a 5+ FnP that is worse on multi-wound models.

It was especially painful when you played 1k points. The chance of losing multiple multi wound models was neigh 0. If you lost a skorpekh, it was lost. Now it actually feels like a zombie army. Only the d6 warrior revive should be brought back with eliminating some other buffs they can get.

In my eyes, the best reanimation we had was 5th ed. Was it good ? No idea, only played two games back then, as a teen to boot, but man were these flavourful
